I think we all have to create a kind of ‘ peace of mind’ on a mental, emotional and physical level.. When we can achieve that, a new healthy future can open up ❤

I just wanted to say, I like the way you start your videos. You read a question from someone and then you said “I’ll get to that in a minute, first relax your body…” it gives me this feeling that you’re in control and centering your mind is “first things first” and the issue at hand is not a huge deal and we’ll get to it after we do the important thing first. I’m not explaining it well, but it’s comforting.

Trust. Major part of the recovery process. I think many of us see our own bodies as adversaries, which just keeps high alert going. My most important takeaway from this video is to learn to trust in this miraculous body and its ability to take care of me. Thank you 🙏

In general yes, I think this approach can help for all types of pain. Speaking of mind-body I learned something interesting recently that people might want to try: Bitters activate the parasympathetic nervous system. For fun I recently bought an aperitif drink called Aperol. The point is that it is drank before a meal to stimulate appetite, so it kind of forces you into parasympathetic rest and digest mode. For those of you who don't drink alcohol, you can get non alcoholic aperitifs. Or just look into digestive bitters.

Great video for me today!!! Basically all of my CFS and fibromyalgia symptoms have gone since following you and doing coaching with you. Because I’ve been better I’ve been very physically active and went and got myself a nice sports injury that has kept me up at night in pain. It’s been almost two weeks and I just remembered (with your help) that I can remind my brain it’s safe and the injury will resolve soon. This approach helps reduce the pain 😊

My mind is in constant terror - age discrminatin is financially crippling and terrifying for older people with no family or friends. I send out 100s of resumes a month for jobs I am qualified for and they only want 25 year olds even though most of these jobs are remote. The TMS was so bad, I could only sleep for three days straight, the fatigue was so bad.

I made a comment yesterday. (I’m not the one you’re speaking about) I was feeling pretty down. Even if my conditions persist or get worse, I can always use these methods. Thanks I thought I was going to heal too. Also yep I took pain meds for about a month after my surgery. Different surgery but yeah. Not good with the other meds I’m on. But working on that. I tried to trust my body to heal but I ever truly 100 percent did. I’ll try not to blame myself for the recurrence of my issues.

Even though my pain is not gone yet… Through this approach, I have managed to reduce my flares (length-wise) by at least 75%. Does that mean I’m on my way to being pain-free?

It’s crazy what we do to our brains. It starts being wired to react to any sensation and perceive it as pain etc. I stopped watching for awhile and I got SO much worse with the fear, anger etc toward my condition. I want to Thank you again and I’m going to start watching again. I was doing so much better when I did. My freak out level was so low when I was watching. When my condition got worse again I stopped using all my good coping tools, like watching you. Yeah my husband has scoliosis and it doesn’t hurt him

Oh dear! So sorry to read this! Years ago I had that same chest pain.. I went for a check.. they said it was not my heart so at that time I was reassured ( didn’t know about pdp in those days) and i relaxed about it.. few months later,it was totally gone and never returned. Why because I BELIEVED I was ok then! Hope you feel better soon ❤

Really appreciate this video and topic. I broke my arm recently and it required surgery. I was able to apply these PDP approaches, by first identifying that weather pain is acute or chronic the main factor is the fear level! Once I saw that I could work with my fear instead of foci=using so much on my arm. Thank you Dan!

I cannot explain what someone said or what Dr Hanscom says. We will always have fears and some level of anxiety. We do not need to get rid of all of that to get well. But we can TEACH the brain that anxiety is normal and does not need to create symptoms. Watch my fast start playlist to understand more. DansfastStart.com

Great topic and commentary, Dan! I have also wondered about your concepts applying to structural pain. The woman's beautiful response to her surgery suggests that they do. Your remarks make me feel hopeful--that I'll eliminate my TMS symptoms and possibly alleviate any structural ailments I may face in the future.

I’m more interested in whether a Mindbody approach has been shown to increase mobility measurements? Pain I can deal with, but it’s the physical restriction in movement that is annoying. Have you tried testing someone’s straight leg raise before and after following your approach with positive results? Albeit, it could be correlation not causation.

Can ocular migraines (aura without pain) be TMS? Mine went away, although I didn't start seriously looking into TMS until 1.5 years after my last one, and then it was was more for hip pain. After 2.5 years, I just had 2 ocular migraines within 9 days.
@PainFreeYou

It's my belief that all migraines are a mindbody thing. TMS. Coming from a brain perceiving danger. My fast start playlist explains what is going on, how to do an assessment for YOUR symptoms to see what is going on with you. Then it maps out the recovery process. DansFastStart.com
