Things are getting serious! Only 2 knights left now after completing this Templar Knight scheme for today's Grail Knight! It's looking like I'll be ready for the event at Underworld Gaming on Saturday. I'm painting a unit of Men at Arms as well this week, mostly on my streams which you can check out over on Twitch!

This is why I love Bret painting returning. I struggle a lot with doing schemes for my brets. I was spoiled with either Empire or Dogs of war where you are pure one uniform or theyre mercenaries and you do anything you want. brets deserve extra attention. Using Skelton horde for a kahki type tone I hadnt thought of before (Ive been using it for my arrows haha)

Very nice Andy, other colour schemes (to add to the many you already have!) orange/light blue or purple/yellow. The unit is going to look stunning. Hopefully, we get to see a complete shot of the whole army you are taking.

This scheme reminds me of the Knights Hospitaller, a Catholic militant order that started in the second crusade. Great work friend, love your content, I’m just sorry I don’t have more time to enjoy your vids when they release lol

I found my old heraldry notes from when i painted a small bretonnian force, probably some good combos would be Purple/Yellow and Green/White

Maybe you could use the Green/Yellow and Red/Black colours for the two last grail knights? With the exception for green, the other colours have already been used and should help make for a coherent look of the unit...!?

Avoiding green because it’s a peasant colour for bretonnians aside from the green knight but that’s a good idea to tie the colours together!

@MediocreHobbies eh that's debatable at this point, lore changes alot and the old brettonia novels by Anthony Reynolds even calls this out when they talk about green being a peasant colour but also representing the fey but in the same conversation he mentions that fashion in Brettonia changes often. Also some artwork for Brettonia that was made for Total War: Warhammer features a knight in Green & Yellow.

Yep he definitely looks really good with the other two guys, a strong royal purple and cream would be another good choice, or pink and black maybe green and yellow.

Love this one 100% got to go with the classic Templar for at least one :) I think while you have the Green Knight, I can't think of Knights without the legendary Black Knight I think that would be a cool scheme for one of tge Grail knights Great video as always Andy can't wait to see the last two two videos this has been a fun series

Something that would be cool is a crisp and clean white scheme. Either white with gold and purple, or white with yellow and black. A white with yellow and black scheme would also fit with a Templar theme as well, specifically the Teutonic Knights. A red with white scheme would also work for a Templar style since the Knight's Hospitaller also wore those colors. No need to make it harder than it needs to be, just look at history :)

There was a "crusader" army list where you could give lesser knights a grail knight as champion.

I just noticed, if you have the green knight in with the grail knights your banners clash (units is blowing back while green knight’s are blowing forwards) They all look amazing though ❤

The green knight is always separate! He appears randomly out of the bushes to attack, he’s like a ghost. Not sure why his banners go the other way but it’s the way he’s designed 😄

I'm loving these Grail Knights! A white and blue knight would look great, one way to pick out schemes is to google a surname and coat of arms and see what comes up (totally not the reason I suggest white and blue... honest)

I love the black & bone combo, so it's easier on the eyes than black & white. I did a few Black Templar models a few years ago and did them with bone. As for the next colour, I'm not sure if you'd like it, but after going over the interactive map again, I'm heavily leaning towards Gisoruex for my kingdom, which is a half red & white scheme. The only other suggestion I've got is to swap the colour combinations around between models.

I love the bone/off white, especially against the gold trim and black decals, i think the brown on the horse could do with being a little lighter to contrast against the black barding though as the horse just gets lost in the darkness of the barding at the moment. But that's just one noobs opinion. The 3 look great together.

Looking forward to seeing the Night Goblins in action. If you do a yellow/blue knight and a red/cream knight, then all of your knights will share each of their two colours with one of the other knights, in the same way that your black/yellow and black/cream knights have the black matching.

I use them a s a quick way to get base colours on a model, the contrast then acts as the shadow, i don't completely cover it all up!

You should go for two more "classical" schemes for your remaining knights: yellow/red and white/green (although I understand green is a bit iffy in Bretonnia as it is reserved for the Green Knight).

In the Book Knights of Bretonnia it is explained that green is a cheap to make colour for peasants and therefore no noble would use it. Green Knight is something different because he is aetherial :D

There isn't really a rule against green as far as I've ever seen, a bright emerald green would look very nice on a knight. The main rule I read about was the heraldry rules with the colours and metals, but they really don't matter if the model looks cool

I’ve converted Pegasus knights into my Hexwraiths. (Bretonnia themed VC) Not sure how to paint them to give them a ghostly theme/look like they do fire damage. I was thinking flames on the hoofs, I like the idea of the horses being solid black as if they are made of shade but will it look unfinished? Opinions please.

I use contrasts to put down quick base coat layers
