Let's paint a waterfall! In the second layer it's time to create form by increasing contrast and adding layers of detail. This lesson uses negative painting, wet on dry, wet in wet and dry brush techniques to paint a loose, yet realistic waterfall in watercolor.

Really pretty. I love the freshness of the colors. I struggle with "muddy". I like the idea of putting reference photo further away forcing us to see values and shapes first

Beautiful! I love it even more after you added the darker tones to the forward side of the mountain. I actually thought the water would take more work....learned something new! I’m still trying this looser style....I try and find something to love from my blobs and masses of color...or mud...depending. Just need to log more brush miles and find that sweet spot between abstract-loose-very detailed. Thank you for a great tutorial!
