refreshing to see an artist who is okay with making changes and repairs. i always feel like i messed up when i have to fix things, but i like how you just try different styles and repairing the turtle until you like it. and very good painting! i'm still learning. this helped a lot!

What a simple way to paint underwater! I was trying to make one a moment ago on digital but I thought why not follow a tutorial, but I also don’t wanna spend too much time on it since it’s only the opening scene for my comic.

Joe, can you educate me just a bit? I haven't done oils in years, but when I did I always thinned with a medium or turp, but I saw you used water on the sun rays. Are you using water-mixable oils, or can you use water with regular oil paints? Thanks. I love your "not sweating the details" way of working.
@2CraftySeniors4 жыл бұрын
Most of the time Joe uses acrylic house paint, not oils, which is why he uses water to mix. :)
@DOI_ARTS4 жыл бұрын
Sir he is using acrylic, it would take 2 days if he use oil paint.

Cameras should be at a slight "looking down" position when take video or still of a wet surface. Any upward angle at all will intensify the glare on your surface. Elevate your camera ever so slightly so it is looking down angle and the glare will disappear. FYI enjoy! Down angle means ANY angle that is above the "horizon" of the light sources in your room. Another fix would be to have your canvas at a more vertical angle rather than leaning back.

It is what every artist thinks when they start a painting. But I agree. Even his minimal effort for 10 minutes (not that was minimal by no means what so ever) still will result in something I would be proud to hang on my wall.

Do you use anything with the paint to make the paint look so thick and wet when applying it?looks like the paint stays wetter for longer so you can blend so was wondering if you added anything to the paint thank you in advance 😊 btw love your work

he is most likely using acrylic house paint
@muraljoe4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's right. Thank you Becky. I put the paint directly onto the canvas which gives me a little extra time as apposed to mixing on a palette first. I do put it on heavy also.
