The full lessons are just amazing...a library full of knowledge...knowing what your painting and the "how," and "why," is so important. If anyone really wants to paint...don't just copy...study..learn as much as you can...after getting all the basics down such as color theory and such...practice...find your "subject," and study ...know the anatomy of waves...the ocean for ex...Joe's lessons are something you'll refer back to time and time again...having the knowledge that he shares in his lessons will save you a lot of searching on the subject/s....as he expressed many times...don't just copy his method...know your subject and your journey Will become so much more pleasant and effective. I read a comment on one of Joes videos and it was.."trees and water are so hard to paint," well...if one knows the structure and various kinds of trees ...study them...same as water...know the anatomy of a wave...how and why foam is formed...thanks Joe for sharing all your knowledge...having your full lessons is so worth it and thanks for taking the time in making them...as well as sharing all the important aspects of each subject...he's the real deal...no artists share their knowledge...and many don't even know themselves...they paint trees and rocks using black..oh I can go on and on about this..but fighting with myself to stop...again if you really want to become good and have a passion for landscapes...the ocean and more..Joe has a full lesson an many subjects ...study and really listen to what he says...paint on...

Thanks for this, I’m pregnant and I want to do my son’s nursery with an underwater theme similar to finding Nemo. I’ve watched countless tutorials and this is the only one I’ve watched that has made the ocean seem less intimidating to paint!

This is amazing! Trying to use this method for an underwater painting I'm doing but I'm just stuck on the bright white light peaking through the waves. Any suggestions of how to get that effect?

Thank you so much for posting this! I'm trying to work on paintings with a water theme and wasn't sure how to go about it! I was wondering what color ratio did you use for the tan or is that a compilation of all the spare colors? And is what your using acrylic paint or house paint? Keep being up the Amazing work

I would say acrylic, see no turpentine, stand oil, or thinners on his work table. What brand? maybe outdoor grade acrylic for weather and lightfastness. I teach art but not sure what the best acrylic brands are though.
