I did it. I painted the model that I didn't like and as usual I have changed my mind about it! I really did not like the new Aethon Heavy Sentinel when I first saw it and I didn't even know if I was going to bother painting it at all. But of course you guys asked for it as soon as you heard that! ‪@officialwarhammer‬ sent me over the new Solar Auxilia Battle Group box early to paint up and review! My Solar Auxilia scheme is loosely based on my Death Korps of Krieg scheme, and it's working quite well!
Basing scheme:
AK Terrain Dark Earth texture paste

You are a damn legend, Great work as always! Glad to see, that by the end you ended up liking the little bugger. I myself want to get one of these guys and proxy him as a armoured sentinal, like its some old relic they still have around. Also, It's be cool to see ya paint up that Mars Pattern Russ with a new updated show case of the Krieg!

I'm glad you liked it in the end, I like how the design is just different enough from the current one that it feels like something new. I'd love to see you paint the Lemun Russ, maybe paint the other gun options just to show the diffent variations that could be built Great video as always Andy

The haggered vehicle vs pristine munitions is a very good point 😎👍 For pistons, I'd do them very clean and shiny for the most part then a greasy, grimy band and the end furthest from the housing to mimic how they tend to look in real life. Also: +1 for the Leman Russ 🤘

I really like that, I can imagine the sentinel going hull down in cover with the top mounted Las cannon just poking over. The paint scheme works really well

14:44 and 14:19 I am a bit iffy on the rust effect. Sometimes it reads well but this looks more like random red spray paint. I wouldn't have mind seeing this mini finished without that effect. But everything else was top notch as always. I think the reason it looks unrealistic is that the paint job is perfect, so there is no weathering anywhere but the rust. Adding paint wearing off, scratches then completes the effect. Otherwise rust on top of a perfect paint job reads as unrealistic

I would like to see the leman, possibly the building of it as much as painting as I’d like to see how much better it is than the standard version. As for seeing more of your krieg, I’d love to see you work on some more of your big forgeworld tanks at some point. Keep up the good work Andy, whatever your working on its always worth watching.

8:00 I think a bunch of hunter killer missiles can be used to deal with marine squads. Unlike marine legions, the AP4 and AP3 weapons are rarer in auxilia. Have to get hands on anything available to damage these tough guys before rifle sections get massecred by bolters.

Unfortunately that’s how my kreig are painted. If I did them with brush it wouldn’t match. But I can do one in my cadian scheme if you like. That’s all brush.

I’ve done tons of vehicle videos without it airbrushes! I’ve only used it here to fit with the rest of the ones I’ve already done in the same scheme but you can easily apply the hand painted steps from other videos and swop in any colour you like!
