Different values of Gray are used in this painting so don’t worry about the tone rather concentrate on light medium and darks. Hope you enjoy it 😎

This is an excellent tutorial to see the value of tone rather focusing on color or even detail for that matter. I am going to do it again because I can see the impact of 'darks'. I find myself hesitating to add too much dark for fear of ruining it but I can clearly see the difference when I do. It is like the contrast in tone invites you into the painting. To paint along it would be helpful to have a reference image, some info on brush sizes and types, and pigments. For instance are you using white in your grey mixes…. It looks like you do but your mixes never look murky. I am learning a lot from how you use a wide range of values.

Im fascinated with the way you sketch in mostly a continuous line. It must be why your figures are loose and there’s always movement in your paintings that I like so much. I’m practicing this A LOT and if I ever learn to get proportions correct while sketching this way, it’ll be one of the strongest things Ive learned from you. I imagine I should master proportions first before trying to develop this (?). You wouldn’t happen to have any tips for this would you?…I’m a retired photographer and have always been self-taught, so I’m in the dark as far as concepts taught in formal art classes. I love how you see things so I hope to learn cityscapes from you.

This one has alot of buildings for me. I tried a rainy scene with fog buildings a person, umbrella, stop sign, then I put a truck in it🤨 the truck is parked on the sidewalk😳 and flying up into the air 😂 should have drawn lines to a vanishing point. These street scenes are torturing me 😱😆 what was I thinking a truck !😅
