You will get it by watching his teachings if you let go and let that hand and paint brush do the work. I was scared to watch his videos because I thought no way I could do that but eventually you will this is his gift. He's fun and extremely kind. Keep watching, practicing and learning.

I’ve been watching your cloud videos & I have all my supplies ready. The ceiling has been previously light stamped. Should I use joint compound to smooth it or sand the stamping off?!

Yes, it does, I seen in one of his videos how he made some sort of neck brace to alleviate the strain on his neck out of a towel but do not remember which video it was in, probably a cloud tutorial.
