Back in the 1930s, my aunt was reticent to invite high school friends to her house because they all had rugs in their living rooms, but because my widowed grandmother was trying to raise three kids on her own, they couldn’t afford a rug. As a brilliant solution (IMHO), my grandmother painted a rug on the floor. She was very talented and I’m told the rug she painted was beautiful!

@@Ilikecatss777Rug and tiling would definitely be better. Paint is just not made to last and when it chips due to every day activity it's very noticeable. Even if you apply clear coating, a floor is different from a wall because people are constantly walking on it. It might look nice but if it's for a dining room area where there are a lot of people tracking back and forth and chairs moving around with or without people sitting in them, that paint job no matter how good will probably not be made to last.

spray paint is easily removable with a product called "goof off" ...so he really isn't "ruining" anything nor taking any value away from his home.

@@pamelawright5043 You are right, but it doesnt mean, thit montrosity disapears. It will be scratched, faded, worm, but it will be super hard to get rid of this because paint still remains in slots between wood after complete resurfacing flooring. It will be still visible.

I understand your rage. Not in the same business at all, but this is vandalism in my books! And I appreciate from your comment that you have to deal with this all the time in restorations.🤢 In the UK (no idea about anywhere else) there was a horrendous trend in the 70's to cover absolutely beautifully carved wooden doors and floors with flat plywood amd nasty carpets... our fam moved into a dilapidated house like that. My father did most of the renovations and uncovered some beautiful wood and craftsmanship, much of the house was natural wood and exposed brickwork at the end. Looks so much better. His prized Technics Hi Fi system was in a lovely exposed brick purpose made shelving unit! 🤣 Had to mention that, I'd spend hours listening to that thing looking and sounding beautiful surrounded by that beautiful masonry.

If he didn't do a coat of polyurethane, epoxy or some other floor-rated sealer on it? Yeah, probably about, but it all depends on the amount of traffic. Could even be considerably less.

as a flooring installer i can tell you that is going to be much harder to restore than it was to paint. don't ever do that.

As an installer/ refinisher I can assure you that you are wrong. It will be no harder to sand that paint than sanding off the aluminum oxide finish that is on this prefinished flooring.

When I had my home built, I paid almost twice as much of carpet for hardwood floors. If anyone did that to my floors that person would never be seen or heard from again.

Never understand why people pay so much for a FLOOR THAT IS WALKED ON. I love my grandma but i can't stand her floor she payed $8000 for a nice hardwood floor but wants furniture moved every other week and trying to not leave a scratch on these floors is like walking on egg shells

@@skylerakers1989 I am an asthmatic. Carpet is extremely bad for that and other breathing conditions. I was protecting my health. Hardwood flooring is cleaner than carpet because it doesn't hold dirt. Also it can be cleaned often. The shine is beautiful.

@@skylerakers1989 Get some furniture sliders, attach carpeting to surface that rides on the hardwood. Or use the booties that professional cleaners put over their shoes/boots to go over the sliders. Either way you won't have to worry about scratching up grandma's hardwood.

spray paint is easily removable with a product called "goof off" ...so he really isn't "ruining" anything nor taking any value away from his home.
