I paint black horses exactly the same--blue and purple underneath, as well as a touch of green. And I use interference blue and purple over all. I love the blue black color---it's my favorite. He turned out beautifully. The last black horse I did like this was a stablemate Alborozo unicorn, and the one before that was a traditional Totilas, who is solid--no white markings. He has brown eyes though. I was experimenting, and happened upon the technique about a year ago, and will never paint a black horse any other way. (Jan Griffiths).

the little cube trays from wax melts work perfect as pallets too!

So do plastic ice cube trays from the dollar store. Also small plastic dishes you get coleslaw in from KFC. They have lids which seal nicely. (Jan Griffiths).

I can add it to the list! Palominos are a little tough in general- sometimes too yellow, sometimes too “chestnut” 😅

I use an Iwata Eclipse, which costs roughly $150. I'm a big fan of siphon feed airbrushes instead of the gravity feed you typically see people using. It's what I got used to at my old job ^^

You're not wrong! I've developed a lot better habits as an artist since I filmed this tutorial. I'm working in a different space with some different tools-- and no more heat gun lol
