Marco have you tried the SMR-11 yet? The 1150 is my go to clear(used car stuff) the smr-11 tho 1:1 and the amount you get for the price. If it sprays and lays like the 1150 I could see my self switching

Any gun made in the past 20 years should be a HVLP gun ( High volume Low pressure ). Which really should be doable as low as 10 psi. I would treat each panel individually though ( Ie paint just the front left fender , Wait.. paint door, wait.. paint quarter). When I was in school we tested a mini 125cc gun and it was fine as long as you went panel to panel. Some guys actually sprayed clear with it better since it limited the amount they could spray, which stopped runs. Still not ideal though, as you're just as likely to cause orange peel. Was a neat theory crafting test though ha. These guns are nice for throw aways that I will use for Single stage tractor paints on race/derby cars. Considering you can get these for $3.43 shipped from alli express.

Marco, this might be a dumb question..but do you charge more when you go to them to do the work? Even if they let you use their facility? Or is it the same if they brought car to your shop and picked it up? Not being nosey. Just wondered.

I have an old Craftsman 5-horse/15gal/220v compressor. Had it a long time but low hours and it appears to work fine. What do you think about daisy-chaining a couple of those 11-gallon portable air tanks from HF or wherever? Seems to be a cheap but useful upgrade? Thanks.

I replied to Marco and bbay1977 twice each below and the posts never showed, but it seems they were counted. I don't know what's going on. To Marco: Time to fill is maybe secondary to running out of pressure and having to take a break. I think. To bbay: This one of those old school killer compressors. I ran it non-stop plasma cutting a 66-foot mobile home frame a couple years ago with problems. Your point is noted, but not sure how much difference it would be between the multiple tanks and one attached 35-gallon. Tanks are about 50 bucks each I think, so not a great expense. I have a lot of cars to do, so at some point I'll need a bigger setup. Right now I want something I can practice on three or four cars with. Thank you for your reply.
