I had the honor of being the lead artist for the Western Science Center's new exhibit displaying the fossils they've been uncovering from the Late #Cretaceous #MenefeeFormation of #NewMexico. In this video, I'll show you the process of painting a large paleoecology mural featured in the exhibit. With indoor house paint and a lot of fossil reference we built a forest full of dinosaurs and prehistoric plants one layer at a time. All of the plants and animals depicted in this mural are based on the latest research on late Cretaceous ecosystems of North America including newly discovered plant and animal #fossils, many of which are on display in the new exhibit. You can also catch a glimpse of the life sized head #sculpture we created of the #tyrannosaur #Dynamoterror, which will be the focus of my next video. Other #dinosaurs included in the #mural are #Ornatops, #Invictarx. The mural also features prehistoric #turtles, #pterosaurs, and lots of #plants including, #ferns, #aroids, #palms, and ancient #conifers similar to modern #Cryptomeria, an ancient relative of #redwoods.
