You and me both brother. I've been watching some digital painting videos lately and noticed how many digital painters horizontally flip their paintings to combat the "clarity" problem. I never thought of that. When doing portraits for likeness I used to physically hold them up to a mirror on occasion. Do you ever use this technique to check proportion?

Yes!! I used to keep a mirror by my desk for that. I forgot about using one!

Brian Ashmore Studio changing the subject, when you do people you use strong layers of color, what about painting children? Would you use lighter colors??

Hi Essie, I would approach children exactly the same way as adults. They may have smoother skin but light, color, and shadow play across them the same way they do on adults or other objects.

So many times I’ve walked away from a drawing thinking its perfect only to come back later and feel like a 3 year-old sabotaged or redrew my drawing. It’s so strange how the mind can mix things up and make you think things are going well.

Spiroffd Thanks much for your suggestion. I get what you are saying. I enjoy channels with regularly scheduled content, as well. However, my channel will probably not ever be that way. While I appreciate every one of my subscribers, building a large audience is not my intent with the channel. YT is a fun side project for me and a chance to connect with fellow artists and art fans. As soon as I feel like this is an obligation or that I’m coming up with any idea I can just to get a video out, I’ll probably stop. This is fun for me but not something I need to have take over too much time. I hope you can enjoy it for what it is. I appreciate your comment and suggestion.
