Glad to see yet another incredibly talented GW staffer branch out on their own and hopefully start to make the living that they always deserved to. Duncan, Peachy and now Louise. I remember seeing the Sphiranx on display at WHW and realising it was the best paint job in the building. Inspirational work.

This is an amazing effect! I am going to be painting a dragon with opal horns and claws quite soon for my fiancee, so I will definitely be referring back to this video! I thought I would be stuck having to get a specific colorshift paint to get the effect, but now I have another amazing option!

This is genuinely my favorite power sword/weapon in general I’ve ever seen in miniature painting. It literally looks like it’s made of opal. It’s beautiful and what a way to start a channel. I've not painted in months and I immediately snapped out of it and started cleaning and prepping my painting area after seeing the first Rainbow Warriors video. Thanks so much for this tutorial!

I like the old paint bottles in the background. I have one old, hex-shaped, paint bottle with still flowing paint. That is how I learned not to lick my paint brush, whatever chemicals they added to keep the paint flowing is not for consumption. :)

tip for that middle line on the sword, use pinstriping tape, basically like 3-6mm wide painters tape, stick it either side and use the side of an old but ok brush to stipple on the line lightly

One thing I would like to see more of in painting tutorials videos in general (unless I keep missing them) is not just how to do one type of model idea, but an entire group or set. Like for example when you see said model paint scheme, we eventually see a unit to get an idea of how the rest would look on the tabletop before fully committing to said idea. Like Outrun-Neon Necrons. Though understandably AFTER you get your one paint scheme idea done for video based on one model or sure! But it be so need to see a unit displaying said ideas. I'm always up to know how to do something like 10 Skaven Clanrats, or 13 Tyranid Termagants in an interesting way through the best and fastest methods possible, and it not feel like a chore.

Definitely gonna have to try this out because yours looked awesome. A tip for painting the mid section on a sword : use a small flat or chisel brush and use just the very tip of it to get a controlled straight line. It's a lot handier then using a round brush. Awesome video Though 👉😎👉

Welcome to the KZfaq family. Where the real painters live. 😂 When it comes to that central ridge on the sword I tend to make sure I've got a colour down that I can easily go back to. Take my recently finished Roboute Guilliman's the Emperor's Sword.I did two edge-highlights, one of Yriel Yellow and one of White Scar. Sadly the lines went a little wonky, so I used some Iyanden Yellow (which was used to shade the blade) and slowly feathered it on to reduce the size of the smudged line. Really cool sword effect. I always struggle to paint these types of effects on weapons, usually just go with a silver. But I have been practising my glazing method on my Necron characters.

I love that effect, a very unique sword style. Can't wait to see what you do with the plasma. On a side note have you thought of trying it with pearlescent pigments (for eyeshadows etc), I get them from Ali express and make them up with a bit of linseed oil, fantastic to blend with and I got a good coloured metalic transition (i used metal havent used my irridencent yet) but planning to do it eventually on my Nurgle fly's (as bluebottles) and something like this on the shell of the giant snail guy. Also for the line in the center I use tamia thin masking tape (2mm) to mask both sides of the line as thin and accurate as I can get (with magnifying goggles) then use normal masking tape to cover the rest. Good tip though is add tape to the top and bottom of the stencil and you can just peel it off an use it on the back and then on other models. Otherwise, more fancy is if you have mylar sheets you can cut a very narrow line in one and use that with a little stencil glue
