👋 Hey everyone! Welcome to the second week of BRUSHTOBER 2023!
In this video we're going to have a look at the 7 Procreate brushes and illustrations I've made this week. Comment below which one is your favorite! I hope you like them :)

#BRUSHTOBER is a special event where I create a Procreate brush and an illustration with that brush every day through October. I'll be posting the results daily on my social media, and I’m also going to post a weekly video on my KZfaq channel where I will show every brush and illustration process so you can watch the set unfold as I develop it.

These are awesome! I love seeing your process. Thanks for sharing as always. I think my favourite from this week is a tie between day 10 and Day 12. :) Hard to decide though. They are all great!!

love the ghost - quite a challenging brush, it would have scared me away if i had not seen what you could do with it, so I'll try using it, but my favorite was secret of the smudge! it's "yummy" for lack of a better work (talking of "yummy" food seems to be one of your favorite subjects! you should create imaginary feast foods, luxury menus from another universe or time! it would make everybody hungry!🤤 looking forward to see the new brushes next week!! cheers!!

Haahahahhah! Loved your crazy ideas about the food 🤣 The Origami brush is one of those that can work great to add texture in combination with other brushes, but since the auto-imposed rules of Brushtober is that I can only use the one brush for that day, I just had to deal with it 🤣 but yeah, sometimes doing things out of the comfort zone can lead to unexpectedly cool results!

On the subject of wet paint. If you haven't already, do you think you're able to do a piece (or make a brush) that looks like it was painted on glass. Everyone else on KZfaq just keeps making "how to PAINT glass" Specifically, like the look of paint-on-glass animations.

First time in my life that I heard about these paint-on-glass animations 🤔 That said, I've just did a quick search and looked at some of those animations, and it's interesting for sure. I'm not sure how possible it would be with the current brush engine in Procreate, but I could give it a try. If I manage to do something about it, it would most likely be an update to my Thick Paint set, since most of the textures I would need are already in that set.

Is alpha lock basically clipping mask but on the same layer?

Not exactly. With clipping masks you would also be painting outside the bounds of the shape it is attached to in the layer below, only you can’t see it. But if you were to use the transform tool in the clipping mask layer you could move the contents and you would see those parts outside the shape appear. Also you could turn on and off the clipping mask layer or even delete the clipping mask layer and your original layer below it would be intact. With alpha lock, you’re painting on the original layer itself, only within the shape, and once you paint something in it you can’t move it or erase it without affecting the rest of the layer. Alpha lock would be a destructive method, and clipping mask would be non-destructive.
