Күн бұрынI will be painting my very first BattleTech Lance with only the paints available in the Army Painter Beginner Paint Set for BattleTech! I've been playing the tabletop game a number of times lately, and I think it's time I finally paint my first squad of Battle Mechs.
Join me as I attempt to paint the GRF-1s “Griffin”, the WVR-6R “Wolverine”, the COM-3A “Commando”, and the SHD-2H “Shadow Hawk” using only the Speed Paints & Opaque Paints provided.

Which battlemech is your favorite to paint?

My old company was the Crazy Ivan's. Then when they got wiped out, I joined the Aces and Eights, in 2086. My Workhorse Lance: Warhammer IIc, Longbow 0H, Archer 2Rb, and Crusader 3PA1 . The perfect lance. Light mechs; Phoenix Hawk, Locust with doubled up LRM's, Battle Axe with doubled up MRL's, and the Stinger with a PPC. A good scout/ recon lance that can get in and out, and effectively punch someone in the eye if they get in a pinch. Any PPC's, always double up on Heat Sinks.

Hi Angela.. I think this proves the reverse that a bad worker always blames their tools. In this case it proves a good worker can still do a good job even with minimal tools.

Nice to see someone makeing a video with just the starter set. You did a good job there with unfamiliar colors and figures. I like the Griffin the most but the Shadowhawk is also a funny idea. There is actualy a unit/faction that uses almost just purple in their scheme and also white sometimes.

Love all the names for them to. “Love Shack” is a very fitting name. Also it made me think of the song. Lol I’d call this challenge very successful. You kicked ass at this. Great job. I love how you just pick the color scheme you want for the mech, just do it, and they all look spectacular! On the other hand, I pedantically review camospecs to make sure my choices fit with the battletech unit on which I am working. I need to get out of my own way and paint a Wolverine Wolverine too!

Excellent, video! This inspires me to seek out a Timber Wolf / Mad Cat Model to print and paint. The stand out mechs for me from the lance are the Griffin and Shadow Hawk “The Love Shack”. Thank you for the painting technique knowledge also meat is cheap. 😊

I gotta be honest, the TAP yellows have always been rough as hell for me to deal with. Like Yellow and white or off white spray primer are two things I will buckle and pay GW for. Yellow because of the reasons you experienced and I have not had good experiences getting their matt white to hold paint well. That being said I freakin love the rest of their product line. All my ultramarines at least start with a primer of one of their blues then get overcoated with their ultramarine blue brushed on..... They need to start sellin that imperial blue individually soon. Oh and Greedy gold dry brushin that on my custodes just gave the perfect "richness" of the gold I was looking for. Their spray on brown leather and dark angel green is GREAT for doing catachan camo schemes. Spray once lightly w/ brown leather then set up some designs using blue tack / poster putty to protect joins & connection points then spray the model with green and you've got a green tank with brown stripes / patterns and the tracks last. Still waiting on cataclysm to ship my pledge out. but I'm gonna say that the Timber wolf / Mad Cat will overtake the Kodiak as my favorite mech to paint. But I mean for laughs I did just spray a bunch of Urban Mechs as green like the little goblins they are.

Well you got going!! Been modeling for 13 years. Building Autos and Military, Gundams always liked watching your videos. I just ordered my starter battle tech paint set and battle tech figures. Whats the difference between ordinary warpaints and fanatic and speedpaints from "THE ARMY PAINTER"????

Oversimplified Warpaint - lots of people don't like them but they are cheap and easy to get Fanatic - much better from what I heard. Basicly APs answere to the many people looking for something better then the warpaints Speedpaints - Something to very easly paint lots of minis. Basecoat them white, slap a speedpaint on. It will flow into the gaps and make them dark while move away from edges to make them brighter. I tried that and for the very low effort it takes to do that it looks way to good. Still a far cry from actualy doing all that basecoating, highlighting, shadeing etc. by hand but still for a 5 min paintjob? Thats completly okay if you just want a none grey army without effort. PS: As she said in the video. Speedpaints / Xpress / Contrast paints are very transperent. So make sure not to mix areas except you want it.

You didn't prime them first? Are those the Fanatics paints or Speed paints? Regardless, they came out great!

I did prime them first, they are primed in Greyseer. Some of the colors are Speedpaints but not all of them and no, there are no Fanatics paints in this set.

@@HobbyNight I would have mentioned that in the video for those starting in the hoppy. Love all the paint jobs. OF the mechs shown here, my fav to paint is the Griffin. It was the first mech I ever painted and overall 3 mini. Came out really well.
