Sounds like you have parakeets in the background, Scott. I had a pair. Their names were Betty and Freddie. LOL. Anyway, lovely painting!!!

Good ears, Kay! We had Tiki and Tango. Tiki is no longer with us, but tango is feisty as ever. 😀

@@ScottRuthvenFineArt Tiki and Tango! Love their names! Both of my parakeets died a few years ago a day apart. Betty was trying to lay an egg and it got stuck. Called all of the animal places in my area and none of them handled birds, so I spent hours soaking her to no avail. She died. Then Freddie died the day after her....from a broken heart! Ugh. We loved them both so much. I love that Tango is fiesty! Parakeets have the cutest personalities.

Loving this, can you explain why you didn't paint the sky first, to check the colours/ tone?

Good question. I certainly could’ve started with the sky, but chose the landmass so that I’d get my drawing and composition set early on.
