YOU HAVE YOUR KITTY! I thought I remembered an FAQ video awhile back that said you couldn't have pets in your current apartment, so either you convinced your landlord or SHHHH! your secret is safe with us! Very useful video, with cat disruptions that ALWAYS improve watercolor painting videos!

Basically Gimlet was given back to me suddenly, with little warning, I begged the landlord to have mercy and as I am a model tenant they agreed I could have him! I told them he was an old cat, very clean, quiet, sleeps all the time, indeed an angel in cat form... this may have been a teeny bit of an exaggeration.

Really appreciated this video. Especially liked your 3 background options. A background can enhance or detract from the painting and planning it has always been a dreaded challenge. I have a request that I am almost embarrassed to share...all artists talk about erasing the pencil marks on the sketch, but I haven't found one who actually goes through the materials and steps to ensure success. By the time I'm ready to erase the marks, I have at least a light wash of paint on them and I don't have any degree of success. Would you consider covering this tip in one of your future videos? Thank you, Michelle. ❤

Thanls Michelle. I was trying to paint a picture of a flower arrangement I created . Thanks to your rose tutorial I was very happy with how the deep pink rose turned out but ended up changing the white mum into a yellow one because I didn't know how to handle the white petals. Now I have a good idea of how I will treat the next white flower I paint.

Love your humor 😂. As a beginning painter using inexpensive non-cotton watercolor paper, I wasn't happy with my last attempt at a white flower. I tried to save it from the trash by using chalk. It gave me back the white space and even improved the background. I sprayed it with a fixative so it wouldn't smudge. When I checked it today the chalk seems to be fading a little. I may have another go with the chalk to to see if I can make it more permanent. Have you ever used chalk on a picture, or are you shaking your head at another beginner mistake? Yes I'm going to try this flower exercise. Last time I made the sketch too light and lost my way. Live, love, and learn. Thank you for being on Utube.🥰
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Жыл бұрын
It's fine to use chalk, but you are going into mixed media then. More effective is just leaving space, you will get better at this the more you practice. Remember to let areas dry before painting next to them, so paint doesn't bleed where you don't want it to go :-)

Thank you for this video! I am at a very beginner stage with watercolour and I've only ever tried pink or purple flowers since those are y favourite colours. The idea of white flowers is intimidating but this guide is very helpful! Loved how the flower petals popped against one another as soon as you put the first of the shadows down. Excellent tip on mixing blue, pink, and yellow to make a lovely grey too! Thanks again!

Thank you for showing us the best shadow colors for white flowers. I especially liked the first one with the lavender/gray/pink color petal shadow. After much trial and error, I have been using something like that for shadows on white feathers on birds-especially if those are some of the same colors in the colored feathers of that bird. Botanical style flowers are a bit intimidating, but I will try them in the near future. Thank you!

Yesterday I ordered the petal shade & delphinium from your curated paints. I am beyond excited to received a box from across the pond. They are no longer here in the USA.

We have cats like yours! Totally demanding attention 😆 we have a Siamese that is very highly strung / he’s way better after 4 drops of Rescue Remedy for pets (Amazon) yay 🙏 I always go wrong with shadows on anything - I’ve actually taken black out of my palette now - interesting about Payne’s grey….. that’s probably where I go wrong Thank you for the color mixing option I quite like a pinky grey.

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber oh no!! 🤣 they are a nightmare - ours is a rescue, he was dumped as a kitten - so we saw him on the roadside and took him home - he’s very content but interbred so it gives his already highly strung nature worse, hence the rescue remedy relaxes and calms him and then we can stop screaming 😄

Thank you! I am wanting to paint some of the spring ephemeral flowers that will be coming up soon (I hope). Most of them are white or very pale shades of blues & pinks. I do have one question about the shadows on white flowers. Sometimes the white flowers look like the shadows have a slight greenish cast to them. Do you think that is just a trick of the eye or are they reflecting the green of the plant? I hope you and Gimlet had fun playing. :)
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Жыл бұрын
We did! He likes to chase a ball on the stairs. I would go with what you see, many white flowers do have touches of green. The trick is to use the same green as you use for the leaves or stems or at least the same pigments. All plants have their own colour palette, what you see on the leaves is what you see on the flower. A rose with red in the stem for example, always use the colour of the flower not a totally different pigment.

Michele I asked you a question and when you responded KZfaq wouldn’t let me see it. I’m sorry if I’m being annoying, but I would really like to know how jackman watercolors compare to other brands lol
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Жыл бұрын
No problem, it was my fault, youtube was being glitchy so it put a membership video up for public viewing, when I changed it back it blitzed all the comments. Jackman's are certainly comparable to the big brands in quality, however if you look at single pigment colours the differences may be slight. So if you want to try them, try colours you don't have already, or are less than happy with, it's probably not worth getting replica colours until they run out.
