Painting Yellow Miniatures (My Top 5 Five Paints Compared)

In this video, I share my thoughts and insights about painting miniatures with yellow hobby paints. Yellow is one of the most challenging colors to use because it tends to have poor coverage, and doesn't thin well with water or other additives.
Here, I show you five of my most-frequently used paints, and how they appear next to each other. I think you'll see why I reach for these yellow colors a lot. Anyway, I paint a lot of miniatures with yellow, including my entire army collection of Warhammer 40k Imperial Fists, so it's important to me that I have a vibrant, consistent range of yellows.
My go-to paints are from Green Stuff World, Citadel (Games Workshop), Pro Acryl, and Army Painter. While there are many others, including those from Vallejo and Reaper, I tend to focus on just these five.
These paints all have their own unique qualities, but one thing many of them share is a reliable consistency. Make sure to allow each yellow coat to dry before layering another on top. It can take 2-4 coats for a smooth layer of yellow to appear. Using a foundation coat, e.g., Citadel's Averland Sunset is my favorite, will help enhance that coverage.
Overall, when layered or blended together, these yellows provide beautiful transitions and nuances in the final work.

Super appreciative on this one. Can't find a decent yellow but I guess I shouldn't have gone with the dark base color. Definitely still learning, but thanks for this one. I'm going to Definitely try AP

I love you to revisit these with two thin coats ,AK, Vallejo game color, army painter fanatic and any of the new pro acrylic

@@tangibleday I was meaning just generally, as they are the newer kids on the block, but ill take it, because that's perfect. Finding a good yellow pain is so hard. Only had three but hold of them had been bad

@@aaronwindham6065 ah, the yellow paints in the video are the ones I’d recommend most. I use them for my mini projects. I have the others because… well buying paint I don’t need is a bad habit :P

@@tangibleday I here pink is difficult too, but I have limited experience with those to colors. Not a lot of pink in my necron paint schemes lol

@@aaronwindham6065 hah yeah pink can be hard but it’s a rare color for main color schemes. I’d say orange or white is a bigger problem :)
