As a Maharashtrian, who hails from Bombay, ( Mumbai ) and Pune, where Shivaji Maharaj ( and later the Peshwas ) lived and ruled, I am very proud of having been borne in the same soil as them. Shivaji Maharaj’s life is truly magnificent and inspiring to say the least. Thanks Iman and Moazzam for taking note of the video about Maharaj. If you ever travel to Maharashtra, near Pune, there are numerous forts, ( quilas ) ruled by him, that are truly magnificent.

The problem with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj not getting enough respect and recognition from non-marathis is that they don't portray him as everyone's hero. They even say Jai Maharashtra before saying or not even saying Jai Hind. Until and unless they themselves portray the heroes as of national stature rather than local pride it's not going to happen. Non-marathis will never accept something which brings superiority complex to Marathis and inferiority complex to them.
