See the many products from India that are available for sale in a market in Pakistan! The shopkeeper shows me one very strange product from India too. This is Pakistan's "Little India" market.
Paan Gali Market, inside Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore, was set up in 1947 for the sale of paan (betel) leaves in newly established Pakistan. Most shopkeepers in the Paan Gali migrated from India.
The market boasts 40-odd shops with a huge collection of Indian manufactured goods ranging from ayurvedic products, organic soaps, henna, coconut oil, amla oil, shampoos, paan masala, chyawanprash, elaichi dana, pudina capsules, bindis and banarasi saris. The writing on most of these Indian products is in the Devnagari script.
Products are available from all over India, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bhavnagar (Gujarat), Surat (Gujarat), Assam, Mumbai (Maharashtra), Himachal Pradesh, and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).
I also stumbled upon one counterfeit product. Fake Dabur Amla Hair Oil. Instead, the brand name was Dabura Amla Herbal Shampoo with Condishner (sic). The locals told me it's actually made in Pakistan, even though on the bottle it claims to be made in India. It was littered across a bunch of stores at the market. Some products were also listed as "Indian formula" or used Hindi to pretend to be from India - but were really made in Pakistan. Otherwise, most of the products seemed to be authentic.
