This temple is extremely beautiful..carvings are lovely 😍 That magnet story is correct 👍 Most of the ancient temples are example of best architecture and science. Sadly Invaders destroyed many mandirs and structures.😏

Konark temple was built by kalinga emperor langula narsigh deva in 1250 ,after defeating trughil tughan Khan of bengal in 1244 and 1247 in battle of lakhnauti,he built this temple to remember his victory over afghan and Turks,jai jagannath jai kalinga

Shamb - son of Lord Krishna recovered from leprosy after worshipping Suryadeb here so it's also called Ark kshetra. You will find giraffe carved there( not an Asian animal) so trading was upto Africa. The first sun ray of the day fall on the suspended statue. The ray enters the temple through different pillars in different seasons
