My self would like to see a nice pair of double action disc brakes. Carrying those ridiculous loads is the easy part. Stopping safely seems optional.

How is this really done? Will just hammering leaf on the inner curve on flat envil make it arch more? No one here knows how to re-arch leaf springs anymore.

That’s is how is done in most parts of the world. Hitting the convex part curves it, hitting the concave part straightens it.

They still fix springs in the US, but it's becoming rare. We changed the broken leaf's on our dump truck one time. A few years later, a different one broke in the pack. It's a gamble I suppose.

Yes, I think most men would rather hear the sounds of the work being done, as opposed to someone loudly singing a ballad. A lot of the music on this channel is repetitive which distracts from its excellent content.

The springs had both shown evidence of sag, but not by the same amount an both sides. There were also a lot of visible tip gaps. Sagging springs are not much of a problem if the axle is usually operated at its rated load, but handling gets funny at light loads. The ride height at rated load does not change much after the spring sags, but the spring does not rebound as much when the load comes off. Tip gaps make the rate non-linear and can lead to stress risers and tips breaking off. I used to perform destructive tests on truck springs. As the spring wore out, the deflection for the peak load seldom changed, but the deflection needed for the minimum load slowly creeped up. Useless trivia: The combination of steel filings from the leaf tips rubbing together and hydraulic oil sweated out of the test machine's hydraulics will make your hands 'Lady Macbeth' filthy.
