Chris you are the best person to ask this and hope it can help your community here as well . I use an X-t4 to shoot professional video hair tutorial and I set custom white balance exactly as you have shown , it works perfectly ( I shoot models using a white background ) However I don't get definition on the hair , they look dark overall. I use a Sony a7 iii as a close up camera also and the hair looks a lot clearer and lighter. I am sure there must be something on the setting that I can do ? I feel there is only so much I can lift the lighting and contrast on post production to show more definition on the hair . Thanks for your videos !

Have a great weekend Chris, thanks for another awesome video :) wow your channel is growing so fast. I hope you'll remember me when you're at that 100k mark LMAO 😅 a few things, on topic - thanks for letting me know how to bypass that annoying "OVER" error by lowering exposure. For so long I thought that the camera was trying to play "The ink spots - It's all over" to me, whenever I tried to set my custom white balance. Also, as far as I've seen the sampling area is proportional to your single point focusing square (at least on my X-T4) so it can be made smaller depending how far the object you're sampling from is. In other news: recently I realized that the EV compensation dial is an olive branch all camera manufacturers extend to people who can't be bothered with doing the math behind converting ss/iso/aperture values to stops of light - these are the things that keep me up at night 😂
@pal2tech

@pal2tech
@pal2tech 3 жыл бұрын
Probably mostly Q&A about the channel, some basic camera topics, and more a fun time since very tough to teach live stream format. If you go too fast, you lose some of the people, if you go too slow, you bore others. More of a way to connect with the audience around an electronic campfire.

With both my Nikon Z7 and Z50 I have used the color checker utility to make a white balance reference when I open raw images in Lightroom and Photoshop. Both programs immediately recognize which camera is which and I and give me the option override the Photoshop and Lightroom standard settings using my calibrated white balance. Should I set up the same calibration for my Fuji xt30? After watching your take on using Photoshop and Lightroom as opposed to Capture One I'm not too sure if it is needed or even if it will work.

I have a years of experience with paper. You can go to a major paper store and buy basic copy paper of a few different brands and they all have slight color difference! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Some slightly bluish tint, so more yellowish. You can get various 80 lb cover samples with desired slight bluish tint for example and use it as a slightly warmer WB.

Hi Chris, please may I ask a question? I have an XT3 and have recently started taking the WB off Auto and moving the K up and down to great effect. It doesn't always work out but mostly pushing it up to, say, 7700K it gives a wonderful warmth to my photos. Woodland walks, Coast paths and cliff top views or just walking through a village I feel (mostly thanks to YOU) that I am getting some of the best pictures I have ever taken. Of course, if you want to make the photo look exactly like what's in front of you then Auto WB etc. is probably best but for me I will never go back to it. My question is, am I burning up the sensor? (I also have NR set to -4 and Colour set to +3), it's an awesome little camera. Lastly, I LOVE my new 70-300 lens!!!

@@pal2tech O M G O M G O M G how did I not see that one 😁 you had me fooled with the setup and sound effect, nicely done sir, nicely done indeed. I don't think I would be brave enough to try this one even with pillows on the floor lol. A few weeks back my 4k tv fell off the table (totaled) when the wind threw the window open. On its way down, it touched my X-T4 which was sitting on the table next to it. I got super lucky with a very thin 2mm scratch on the top of the EVF housing and nothing else. I guess this camera really is built like a tank lol. But that is to say I am intimately familiar with examining Fuji gear for damage 😅 very expensive incident, 2/10 would not recommend.

This is a tricky one I think. I’m using led lights with softbox I can adjust in color temperature and try to set them all even. I would like to try to mimic Golden Hour light but then I use custom white balance and my grey card, and it looks very daylight ish. No golden hour feel here. What am I doing wrong?
