Cool, sometimes we see a band and say to ourselves, it sounds like band X or Y. Well, in this case it really sounds like Nemophila, their smaller sisters 😄 We say these things, but after some time, they take on an identity of their own. I saw Mana Diagram on your channel for the first time, very cool, too. More or less along these lines, I suggest these three bands. The third is from Indonesia, they call themselves a Djent unit from Jakarta. This song in particular was a bit interesting for sure. The original song I checked out by them "Panorama" was good but I dont think it really reminded me much of NEMOPHILA. This one certainly did. I agree though, like their smaller sisters because NEMOPHILA is really untouchable ^^. Mana Diagram was a surprise for me as well, didnt realize it featured 2 of the ladies from HAGANE. I am familiar with Toranoko Rammy, great band. I do not believe I have posted any videos of them. I for sure have not checked out NEKOMESHI(222), never even heard of them. I will have to add them to the list. Same with Party at Eden, dont think I have heard of them. Thanks for the recommendations, Ill add them to my list of music to check out! :)

This band is dropping a new video TOMORROW (12/20) called ALIVE. PaleNeØ is a great band ... I follow them on X and they are pretty active. Not even 3k subs :( . Gary - even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while :p . I would listen to this, I would buy this, great song and great reaction! FYI this band has also covered Aldious, and yes ... BAND MAID.

It really was a great song for sure. Yeah she is pretty cool. You know, that seems to be pretty common nowadays. A lot of bands are using a session drummer not sure whats up with that, doesnt seem to be a shortage of drummers from what I can tell. Thank you! I thought the song deserved a little something extra since no MV and since it was a total banger of a song, so I gave it a shot! Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey Shreddawg! I hope you are having a great night and that all is well with you and your family. I guess we can blame Gary for rearranging your top 15 at nearly the last minute. I won't suggest STMLT "Twilight" or Trident "Kick Ass" to rearrange your list again. Of course, Band Maid or Nemophila might release another video before the end of the year, so I can't help you with that. Band Maid has premiered a few new songs (including a Miku song) during their tour but haven't released videos for them yet. Of course, they might also release that video from Yokohama too of Saiki singing solo while playing the piano, and they have released a snippet of yet another song they wrote for an anime, that they will probably release in a video soon too.

LOL! Oh dont worry, I did check out "Kick Ass" just havent edited the vid yet so theres that lol. I think NEMOPHILA did publish a new single and BAND-MAID did announce that new song for an anime OP. Not sure if those will make the list due to time constraints or if we can even listen to them yet for that matter. I think STMLT is still pending a recording. PaleNeo also has another song coming out in a couple days... All these bands certainly are busy right now lol >.>

Recently saw 2 of their streamed live shows and they were very raw sounding and made a lot of mistakes. You could also feel the nerves, which is understandable with how new of a band they are. Both guitarists had a lot of flubs, especially some of the solos which sounded like the sounds you get when failing at guitar hero. Bassist Yona and especially guest drummer Ranna from Pinkish Crown (who are on hiatus I believe) did a very good job though. All that said, it wasn't terrible and the second time was certainly better. I got streaming tickets to an other of their performances later this week and I am still looking forward to see if they can do better, they are a very young band so all of that is somewhat be expected. Btw, the rhythm guitarist (forgot her name unfortunately, edit: just saw in Gary's comment that it is Reoto) with headset/glasses had a surprisingly good voice for someone who doesn't really speak during the streams they do. She did backing vocals throughout at least the second set. They remind me somewhat of Hagane and Lonesome Blue, which isn't a super positive comparison because I expected both of them to split and both of them somewhat did, but I also saw potential in Hagane (and PaleNeØ) to grow pretty quickly and if PaleNeØ can stick together and possibly find a full-time drummer, I can see them do pretty well. Musically they are not always for me (a lot of vocal production on their studio stuff, I know why from hearing her live) but I like the riffs in the track you checked out. Most of the members have also shown plenty of talent on their solo channels and I know this type of music is well liked with the fans who are into Japanese bands. So I certainly wish them all the best, they are a young band so anything can happen.

I love all the information provided in the comment, thank you so much! I havent had a chance to check out any of the live shows so its interesting to hear about it. They are a young band for sure so I do expect mistakes/growing pains. Hopefully they are able to work through those. Yeah, ive listened to the song a lot to try and pick up on the backing vocals but since everything is fixed up in the studio, its difficult to judge the vocals. I personally liked HAGANE and Lonesome_Blue but it is very difficult to make it because there is so much talent in Japan. I think a lot of bands fold too quickly, they need time to mature as a band. But theres only so much you can do when bills need to be paid so I get it. I do wish the best for this band, I will be checking out the song they are releasing soon. Thanks for all the information!

@@Shreddawg It's obviously easy to criticize from my end, but they were basically youtube musicians and most of them probably never played in front of decent crowd before this year, so I do understand the nerves. There also might have been some technical issues on the first set I watched. Also, while I love Band-Maid and I like their 2014 acoustic FES performance a lot, they made plenty of mistakes on that one as well when they were starting out, especially Saiki back then. I am mostly comparing to bands that have been around for a long time and to be fair I have seen a set by Bridear as well where the newest guitarist Moe flubbed a couple of the solo's. People can obviously have offdays or something can go wrong. And as far as vocals goes, it's the place where I tend to be the most critical and where artists tend to grow the most since they have to learn to use their own body. A couple of other examples, I am quite a big Gacharic Spin fan and while I have always liked Angie's vocals, it is incredible how much better she has become over just the last few years. I have seen it with a lot of Japanese bands too, Mayu is also better with her cleans than she was at the start and that actually goes for Band-Maid's vocals as well (for both of them), you can hear all of these artists have worked on their vocals a lot, so I am not worried about PaleNeØ's vocalist either. I also think I like PaleNeØ over Hagane and Lonesome_Blue, I am wondering if they write it themselves or if they have a writer, but it doesn't really matter in the end. Just more possible issues that can come up (like with Hagane where Sakura Yoshida basically does most of it herself). But again, I was intrigued by them becoming a band after I saw their 2 Band-Maid covers. It would be a great story that they basically found each other online because of Band-Maid covers. And as far as bands folding goes, we lost an other one a couple of days ago in Greed Five Egg's. Apparently their vocalist Fatima had health issues (always difficult to judge if that's true in the Japanese industry) and they all decided to call it quits because she was leaving. It sucks too because I actually enjoyed that band and was hoping for a full album. They put out that statement with a final MV. Health obviously comes first and I think it was a good decision if she had health issues, but it's still a shame.

Hagane haven't exactly disbanded. By all accounts they're still in the process of filling the vacancies left by the departures of Uyu, Mayto and Kanako. So I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of Hagane. After all, Lovebites took a year long hiatus prior to initiating auditions for Miho's replacement which of course led to Fami being selected out of the many hopefuls. As for Lonesome_Blue, they too haven't disbanded even with Mizuki currently behind the kit for East of Eden in spite of Narumi's departure. Terrific guitarist but she also seemed rather aloof, ill at ease and perhaps not as fully invested in Lonesome_Blue as the other three, even with the early endorsement of Asami from the aforementioned Lovebites. Barely even the hint of a smile in most of the MV's, Gekirock videos and what little live footage has surfaced online of late so it was glaringly obvious that she wasn't destined to remain with Lonesome_Blue.✌️

@@michaelhill4353 I know, it's why I said "somewhat", but half of their band left. I would compare Hagane to Fate Gear in the sense that Sakura Yoshida seems to do everything and the same is the case in Fate Gear for Captain Mina. Btw, I think Fate Gear lost their keyboard player again, I caught a live set that was basically called the retirement show of the keyboard player with a bunch of different artists including some of her Fate Gear bandmates, but also the vocalist from Loudness (I think you can still catch that for a week) among a bunch of others. It is titled: くろさきーぼーでぃすと 送別Session Live!(which should be something like Kurosakeyboard Farewell Session Live!, her stage name is Kurosaki). I can certainly see them come back, but I think Sakura Yoshida is probably going to go through that on multiple occasions with the control she has over the band. Hopefully she can figure it out faster than Captain Mina did with Destrose and now Fate Gear. As far as Lonesome_Blue goes, I agree, but we haven't heard anything from them and Mao has a new toy with East Of Eden. I always had the feeling the only reason Lonesome_Blue existed was for Victor and Mao to try and jump on the hype of some of the Japanese breaking out in the West during the pandemic. East Of Eden does it way better, but they have to be careful with the talent they have on there, because I suspect Narumi left because she didn't have creative input. This is pure speculation on my part, but not everybody will put up with the control Mao seemed to have over that band. People will when they are getting more popular, but it will always be a tough thing. It seems like at least with East Of Eden he isn't the one writing the songs. And while I am not a huge fan of the first song as I much prefer Unlucky Morpheus in that style (and haven't heard the second one yet), I do think the musicians involved here of a way higher caliber and they might get it to work. So what I meant was that I very quickly saw that people were going to leave those bands (I remember commenting on Narumi being the first for Lonesome_Blue very early on). She used to play in metal bands and was dropped in a band that played some metal in the beginning, but their album was relatively simple rock from what I can remember, but I have to listen to it again to make sure, I catalogued it as one of the albums I shouldn't have bought after a first listen. It always felt like they only added Narumi as a hired gun to try and get fans to follow the band (the same for Asami's involvement). We haven't heard anything from Lonesome_Blue any more. I actually want to find that online footage, because I was hoping we would get a live Blu-ray or something, there are plenty of bands that I like way more live because the overproduction (from my taste) is gone because of it being live. But I always felt like Lonesome_Blue were a manufactured band, not one that came to be organically. They just threw some money (Narumi) at the band to try and get them popular, that's not how artistry is supposed to work. Building a band takes time, you generally can't shortcut that. But I already knew Victor didn't understand musicians with how they seemingly abandoned Gacharic Spin. I don't think any of the other bands I mentioned are like that, with the exception of maybe East Of Eden with how much Victor and Mao seem to be involved again, but I think they do have a shot as they are of a much higher caliber musicians and I think the music is better fitted for what fans seem to like nowadays from Japanese music. I am hoping for the best for them (I have always liked Yuki's guitar playing) even though I wasn't super sold on what I have heard yet because I am not a fan of their vocalist's vocalstyle. I also just saw they are going to release a Blu-ray which I am certainly going to get, hopefully it's not cleaned up too much. I can still see members leaving, which is what you get with what are basically a bunch of session musicians getting paid to be a band, but I think it will work out for them with the amount of fangrowth they had in a short amount of time. They give me a similar vibe as The Jazz Avengers in that at least some of them are professional musicians with a lot of experience already, not a band of new artists with 1 experienced guitarist thrown in there. Btw, sorry for the wall of text, it's something I have thought about a lot ever since Lonesome_Blue started and I can't hide the fact that I am not a huge fan of how much control Mao seems to have over the projects he is involved in. I like Lovebites, but Mao has written close to half of their songs and I typically am not a huge fan of how a lot of them sound. As far as Hagane goes, I think Sakura Yoshida will be able to get new musicians involved, I actually like her a lot as a guitarist, but I do think she might have to change the approach she has to basically doing everything herself. Otherwise she will lose some of them again. Pinkish Crown is on hiatus (they had 2 members leave as well a year or so ago) and maybe they can help out.
