Did Early Hominids make it to the Americas...absolutely not! This is called a pseudo science and utter BS! Homo Erectus, Homo Hidelbergensis and Neanderthals never made it to the Americas. Often people find stone tools that resemble tools from thousands and millions of years ago in the Americas today. This is not indicative of alien technology, early peopling of the Americas or anything to that extent. Simple put...stone tools are a globally, shared concept and its easy to see...across cultures and time similar stone tools were made and utilized.

I've watched Mexican women prepare prickly pear pads to eat like green beans. I wondered what stone tool did pre-Columbian people use to peel their cactus pads? This looks like a candidate. If I were to use that to slice off agave leaves I'd want it in a handle and it doesn't look like it was made to be set in a handle. But as a kitchen tool it looks dandy.

Fair points. Prickly pear can absolutely be a troublesome food choice. I just remove the glochids with some buckskin and find them good to go. Thanks for watching!

@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks the cooking series "la Herencia de las Viudas" had an episode on preparing nopales. I asked her what stone tools did the Ancient ones use. She didn't know right away, but she's now looking at rocks in a slightly different way! She planes the pads and then trims the edges, then slices them into strips. Your tool looks perfect.

Really interesting,I think both knife and the hand axe were probably used for many different tasks,but like you said we are not making trophies we are making tools,tools that functions, leave the esthetics aside functionality of tool is essential, great video,All the best

Thanks a million. Many ancient stone tools recovered at sites are pretty rustic and don’t look what modern knappers produce. Most knappers, aside from a handful of us stick to traditional methods and obtain some amazing results. Appreciate you watching!

I love you. I really really do. And i appreciate you because im iraqi so please don't take this in a wrong way. You can't dismiss something because you call it pseudo science. There is alot of evidence to a some sort of catalyticismic event that has something to do with a flood. У нас в Сибири много мест по берегам рек, где подобные изделия можно собирать прям с поверхности, за счет выдувания и разрушения почв. Сам лично находил изделия не только из камня, но и из бронзы и железа.

I don't do this and the internet will tell you, but it's called conchoidal fracture. Metamorphic rocks get cooked to a nice glassy aphanitic consistency round about the magmatic intrusions, so if there's a moraine or a mountain range there's probably some workable rocks here and there.

Those tools look very different from each other, mostly cause of pressure flaking. Definitely not the same tool. A video of the Schöningen spears would be cool. Already have a pine cut for making one👍

Thanks for sharing. Funny enough I did the Schoningen spears last year, took me five hours to shape with stone, two days walk and the footage of the last two hours was lost. I’m going to do another one this spring. It fly great fyi!

Wow, nice! That must be tough losing that footage, I totally get it. Another video would be appreciated much though. Actually I cut the pine a month or so ago and left it outside haha. Hopefully it's still good to use lol.

@@izzyc.6559 out of the ten spears recovered…eight were spruce and two were pine. Don’t quote me on that, but I believe that was the count.

Very good description of the Kerrville cortex tools. North into OK, and Kansas we find the platter bifaces which are a mobile Paleo toolkit.

While it is possible that Erectus or others made it to the North America, we haven't found any solid evidence that i have seen. If any did make it, they certainly didn't thrive. As far as useful tools, large reduction flakes often have some nice sharp edges to cut with. I wonder how often they would just break a nice flake off to cut with.

Scientists shouldn't talk like that. A scientist can't be certain that an absence of evidence is evidence of absence. One day we my discover evidence of Early Hominids in the Americas. Then what? Are you going to ego challenge the evidence until your last breath? A good scientist, when asked if he believes Early Hominids entered the Americas, simply says, "I don't know, I haven't seen enough of the right kind of evidence to make a determination." That's science, what you lead into this great show with was pseudo science.

Donny. I have a question. I live in Bedford County Pennsylvania. Near the loysburg gap. There are 3 streams that converge to form yellow creek. I find points and flakes all around my yard. I have taken them to people. I'm told they are atlatle points. There had to have been an encampment nearby my house. I find a couple points just lying around every year. Especially near the creeks. And my yard is a small flat about 10-15 feet above the creek. Large mountain ridges to the east and yellow creek flows through it. . What people would have made them.the material they are made from is not native to immediate area.. 😊

@@texascelt8363 there's a theory that a bunch of North Africa was hit with massive floods around 13000 years ago and that was what inspired the flood stories. If you go on Google Earth it kinda looks like the sand was swept by huge waves. I don't know if there's a huge amount of evidence to support the theory but I still find it cool because it connects science, history and religion
