The Palestine Festival of Literature

On November 1st the Palestine Festival of Literature staged a free, public event at the Union Theological Seminary in New York titled:
But We Must Speak: On Palestine and the Mandates of Conscience
The scholar and lawyer, Noura Erakat, spoke on the urgency of the moment.
Palestinian poet, activist and journalist, Mohammed El-Kurd opened the evening.
Professor Rashid Khalidi in conversation with National Book Award winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Michelle Alexander, the acclaimed civil rights lawyer and authors of The New Jim Crow, introduced the evening and moderated the conversation.
Pulitzer Prize-winning Mojave poet, Natalie Diaz, performed three works of poetry.
A message was read out by Morgan Bassichis from Rabbis Brant Rosen and Alissa Wise, Co-Chairs of the Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbinical Council.
The Rev Dr Raschaad Hoggard read extracts of the Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s Beyond Vietnam speech.

Her history of Gaza omits the fact that several other countries and empires occupied Gaza. Israel only occupied Gaza (1966-2005) after defeating the Egyptians and then gave it back to the Palestinians?

Love from a Bosnian to Palestine people. The UN didn't care when this was happening to Bosnian people. When Boutros Boutros Gali, head of the UN at the time, came to Sarajevo, he said that people in other places had it worse; at the time, people in Sarajevo did not have water, electricity, or food. UN and peacekeepers failed the people of Srebrenica. Still, many countries don't recognize murders in Srebrenica as genocide because their economy will suffer. Shame on the world's leader for allowing genocide to happen in front of our eyes. Every human life is precious and should be treasured

Yes, you are right that they did, but nothing happened. He was a terrible person; by the way, he was a psychiatrist. Came from Montenegro and terrorized the Bosnian population, and happened to be that he was my neighbour. There is more to it. The goal was to destroy Yugoslavia. Some people and governments are just so evil & heartless when they have their concrete one-way views of destroyed a people and their lands with their own hidden agendas. They don't care what others have to say even when there are currently countless protests and voices crying out over the injustices in Gaza, Palestine. But these dictators and governments forget that there's a much higer bring above them, The Almighty! And one day just like the arrogant Pharaoh who thought he was invincible but then saw his own destruction come whilst trying to kill Moses, their time will also come Inshallah & the world will watch on xx

Hamas security forces moved quickly to quell the protests that brought hundreds of people into the streets in at least four camps and towns across Gaza in march 2019 to demand better living conditions. The security forces beat demonstrators, raided homes and detained organizers, journalists and participants, about 1,000 people in all. Along with the uniformed officers, masked, plainclothes Hamas enforcers armed with pistols, batons and wooden rods attacked the protesters, according to witnesses, and prevented journalists and human rights workers from documenting the events. Since then, many Gazans say they have been living under a pall of fear - not of Israel this time but of Hamas.
