It's your wife's She-Shed! Great job! If you bought a burkey water filtration system you could drink that water. They are a bit pricey but some are small enough (1.5 gallons) so you could bring it back and forth with you. They also have a scratch and dent section and that might be right up your alley. Your rain water would be drinkable with that, as would water straight out of a pond, stream, lake, et. Lots of people use them in their off grid tiny houses. I just discovered your brother's homestead site and enjoy his humor along with his wife's quiet acceptance of his antics, now I can say, after watching you peek out from beneath the out-house, I am sure to enjoy your sense of humor, too.

Frances Campbell They also sell the Brita, pitcher sized water filters at Costco and on Amazon for under thirty bucks... And these guys should put screen on top so that there are no mosquitoes laying eggs, birds taking baths, mice drowning.... in their hand washing water.

Great job on all this! Almost 2 years ago I built 12x12 cabin then added on a 12x20 and then a 12x10. This is now my family’s home. Adding another 12x20 now and plan to rest after this. What we did not do is build a tool shed yet. Your pallet cabin turned out so good that I’m building a pallet cabin/shed!

Idk how old this is, but I did something a bit like this. Started out being just a 3 walled structure as a wimd block, then I decided hell why not 4 walls a door and a tarp roof! Then I put a floor, roof, some plywood flap windows. It ended up being 8x8 ft. I added on a 4x8, then a half a frame on the other side.... Put a porch around 2 sides, and I was done...... Then I added an 8x12 full lofted at the end of the half a frame, ended up tearing that out and I put a "z" porch on it. All material was reclaimed and small trees that were cut clearing the spot. The roof rafters and sheathing for it was the only bought material. I did however use about 200$ in screws and hinges haha

Water to drink and cook with. If that water is collected rainwater, it should be safe to drink and cook with as is. BUT, one could do a clean sand/gravel/ charcoal filter and that would be the finish safety on water purification. Boil the sand and gravel before using it in the filter. That ensures it is not going to counter the work of the charcoal. Also, for increased cooking ability and for the sheer joy of doing it, build a rocket stove to cook on. Much more satisfying than using a propane/butane stove. Also, being outside, it is safer than using the standing stove you have there. And your fuel is free! Concrete blocks and cob makes a really nice rocket stove. We even can food on it as it is too hot in the house to can in the summer months. But other than all of that, we like your little pallet house and love that you used pallets to build with. We also use pallets for building all sorts of things around our home.

Thanks! Most people hate it haha! How dare we cover up the beautiful wood grain! Painting walls white makes it feel brighter and happier, especially using the pallet wood I wanted people to want to stay in it and not think it was dirty. There will be more videos on it in the future, finishing the bedroom edition, painting the outside and I think we're going to build a small back deck for it! Our plan is to make a few more in that spot along with an outdoor kitchen and bath house. For family or possibly select subscribers to stay in for weekend gatherings.

As soon as I heard a place for her to do crafts, I immediately thought of a "She Shed"...something I am hoping my hubby will be making me in the near future! He keeps complaining about all my crafting supplies and the mess I make when I bring it all out when working! Easy Solution.....build me a crafting She Shed where I can I can work with "my tools as I need, as I want, and it would be my mess to clean up...just like his man cave" right? I LOVE the idea! Crafting is very therapeutic for so many of us folks and what a beautiful place where she can draw nature as a part of her inspiration!!! Great way to score some serious "Hubby Points"!!! They say, "happy wife, happy life" for a reason! This would also give hubby some time alone to work on something's that he wants to work on without the wife right there!! It's a win win in my book! Great idea Buddy!!! Make it happen for her ASAP cause it could be a great place to utilize during the winter months depending if you have enough solor charge and a way for her to work without freezing her nips off! Not sure where you guys are at but a small wood stive or a personal space heater might be needed in order to make her space usable during the cooler months!! She's gonna need a good study table and good shelving to hold her supplies depending on whatever crafting she enjoys doing! By adding deck spacing will also help so in the spring/summer months she can hopefully do some crafting outside lookinb at trees, hearing the birds, or just enjoying the peace and quite one gets from being in the woods!!! If not using it to have a guest stay the night, she can let air out of mattress and have full use of the living room for her creativeness to shine!!! Hubby, don't hesitate...get on it right away for her!! Can't wait to see what you guys end up doing with the place! New Subbie gained today by me! Now to go check out your other 2 videos!! Hope you start uploading more often as that will really help your channel grow!! Maybe instead of 1 video every 2 months perhaps conside at least 1 video every 2 weeks to start with!! You got good content just need more exposure so you can get more of a broader following!! Guys love seeing building, clearing land, tools used for different projects, animal videos etc! Women love seeing loving hubbies making their wives dreams a reality, love to see different crafts, how people grab their inspiration for their crafts, if you guys have kids- how are the kids involved in each part of either building/maintaing/growing the homestead! Memories that will last from generations to generations...absolutely priceless in my mind! You can't go wrong i'm telling you! Great way to help/inspire people to take actions on their dreams not just think, I don't have the $, or I don't even know where to start, using recycled materials, seeing where you can upcycle items, love how you are mixing old with newer materials especially stuff that has family connections (Grandma's this & that, chair from the 40's etc) i wish you & your family the best of luck with this and any project in the future!!! You got great material for the off grid community (even not living there you are using solor power, composting toilet, water that your treating with bleach for now etc)!!! I sure hope to see alot more of your videos coming in the next few weeks!! Your sitting on a little gem and don't even realize it!! As housing prices keep going up, jobs harder to find with tons of unnecessary schooling, more people looking for alternative ways of making off grid living, self sustaining living a reality, growing your own food so you know what goes into your food, how the animals were treated their whole lives, use of GMO'S vrs Organic, natural composing for your gardens etc!!! Like I said I look forward to watching you grow your channel, your homestead, and your wife's She Shed!!!!

That would be my home sweet home. I have collected some pallets and bought a pallet buster to help take them apart. I've started collecting other wood to build me a shed out back as practice for building my own pallet cabin on my own land someday just like you did Josh. I love the extention or bedroom you add too. one of my brothers currently lives in west asheville; one of my other brothers and i went to mars hill college, in mars hill nc, in the mid to late 90's(now mars hill university, which you know). that brother and i also lived in barnardsville, nc a few years during and after college. i worked in the asheville mall off of tunnel road for several years, my brother worked as a waiter at the chilli's restaurant right by that mall. and then my brother who currently lives in west asheville went to college two separate times at western nc university, and during those years in college there he lived all over the mountains of NC :) my family absolutely loves those areas of the NC mountains :) . we go back to mars hill quite often for the bascom lamar lunsford festival, it's among our favorites :) , we actually go back for that festival instead of going for our college homecoming weekend :) . it amazes me how the college campus has changed drastically since we were there in the 90's. i love that i stumbled upon your channel as i feel so acquainted with the area you live in from my many many years spent living there :) and my family's love of those mountains. my parents actually spent this weekend in saphire valley, and went and spent the day with my baby brother in downtown asheville, and then at his home in west asheville. i wish i had been able to go with them on this trip there, but sadly i wasn't able to this time, but i always look forward to returning to my stomping grounds in mars hill and asheville, and weaverville, and so many surrounding areas in those mountains.

I would have chosen to build a one-room bunk house with a small wood stove inside and an attached screened porch that would serve as the outdoor kitchen and dining area. I would probably cover the exterior walls with a layer of corrugated metal panels or just a lot of old license plates used like shingles to keep all those horizontal grooves in the pallet pieces from holding rainwater and rotting.

I had to have some trees cut myself, just to make room, and it would be so nice to have someone come and buck them up for me. I have land too (the Hollow) and yes, I tried tenting too! It was miserable, and we have lots of dangerous wildlife. My first phase of development was to add a proper driveway, not it didn't even have that. This is when I had the trees cleared. The next phase was to add a 12 x 24 shed, that I now have a small kitchen area, a living room area, and a proper sleeping area. My first night there, a couple of years ago, I slept in November, on the floor, and was I ever cold! Next day I made a trip to Lowes for insulation. I have since added a kerosene heater. I did build a pallet outhouse, because when I had the driveway work done, I had the equipment there to dig a deep hole. My next phase had already started, as I found a repo double wide that has just been delivered.

There's certainly a bunch of holes but so far nothing's bothered with them.. We're going to redress it later this winter hopefully get it back up to snuff and take it to the next level!

More then likely that will be my daughter's school house lol! We have talked at some length about our next project after the house build.. and I think we're going to build a small A frame cabin and set up an "Airbnb" for our subscribers to rent.. provide the food, have classes and how-to's...had thought about using the pallet cabin.. but think we can do better. Plus there is a much prettier spot on the other side of the ridge. Thanks for watching again!

I hope to get y'all up to speed this weekend! Compared to this an A-frame should be easy! Just a matter of a design that would be small but comfortable.. it took me a year to design what I think will be a comfortable home for our family of 3 in a 12x16 floor plan, however this is a full time gig where as the Airbnb would be for short trips.

Annette Millette , how far do you want to go ? Think about it if it starts raining or snows , I would not want to go to far , and secondly no one cares when your in an outhouse , every one has to go don’t they.
