We have some Bad Players in our local Pallet community. We have a person who takes everything and gives others no chance at even a couple of pallets. They pull up at bunnings and take everything. The other bad player takes lease pallets. Has a small crane on his trailer. Now the shops are locking everything up and/or binning throw away pallets to keep people away.

We have people here, they're the trash companies who drop off the dumpsters, well they give away the dumpsters filled with pallets! I just got an entire dumpster full dropped at my house today! Delivered for free! And there's 4x4s! The pallets are made out of 4x4 pieces of wood! There huge and awesome! I look forward to building with them!

I appreciate the videos that you produce for all of us here on KZfaq. I love the fact that your videos are not all about the next latest and greatest tools that have been provided for you to sell to us, you actually do projects and provide useful tips as well as provide content that makes us think. That also goes for a lot of your down under colleagues as well as the ones across the pond, we don’t seem to get much of that here in the US, most of the channels here don’t even use their tools and just try to sell you on going into debt to buy the next best tool.

Evening Dainsey, just thought I'd sling ya a message. I've been watching your channel for a while and loving it! I have moved from the ville a couple of years ago but I used to get pallets and crates from the mower shops (across from RAAF base and just up from Kawasaki on Ingham road), Kawasaki and a couple of 4 meter pallets from the owner of National tiles on Bayswater rd. The crates from Kawasaki are about 3m long, are a mixture of 2x4 and 4x4 and mostly really clean stock. Hope this helps maintain supply for ya.

Dainsey! Thanks to you, whacking pallets is part of my winter fitness! It is tiring! I heated my dining room all winter with broken "Ht" eco pallets! Bad wood gets burned, good wood builds projects like bird tables. And....I have another recycling side hustle you will appreciate - I fill up a huge raised bed with horse manure which rots and gives out heat to grow very early crops! My entire life is recycling - oh and also old electronics like cameras and laptops.

Recycling & repurposing the salvage wood is very satisfying up here in Indiana-landia, too. Time efficiency is the part i haven't figured out yet (for the full-biz factor to compute). I find myself still in the experiment/ponder/proceed phase of my learning curve. Tinker-time is great, but it doesn’t result in "kangaroo skins" yet. That's okay for now. Hoping I'll get the timber-rescue laminated up with the financial fescue as the year progresses (with a minimum of wonky-donky result). Really great to see the techniques you're demonstrating here, Mark. Thanks.

And another thing.... I'm guilty of using construction grade lumber to extend my supply of reclaimed lumber. I'll use the store bought stuff for the bones of it, and using the rugged stuff that people who buy my Rustic Creations. It greatly hastens the building process. My customer base is indeed the lower 90% of nice people who cannot see past the surface of is being produced for them. It also enables me to provide higher quality for. Where I live in the mid-east-coast of USA, I can source rough cut lumber that has been kiln dried. While this does increase product cost in one aspect, it also makes it easier to produce a product that is truly Rustic inside, as well as outside. I'm gonna go back and leave some new comments on your other videos so we can drive the crap outta that algorithm.😎🤠🤓

Hi. I’m a long time watcher. I “just got started”. I’m making a bookshelf for my daughter out of pallet wood. Have you laminated hard and soft woods together? Are there any problems with that? Thanks Mark
@dainermade

I’ve not had a problem, you may feel slight raises in particular boards and the expand over the seasons. Nothing to worry about though
