You know, in a weird way, Obi-Wan is sorta chosen-one-like. Not THE Chosen One, mind you, but to tango with multiple Sith and Sith-trained opponents, and to survive, is no small feat. Let alone defeat several of those opponents. Obi-Wan wasn’t the strongest or fastest or in some ways even smartest. He just happened to be guided by the Will of the Force, and was willing to flow with the current. He was, therefore, an indispensable servant of the Force.

One other source of Palpatines reaction is in a short story from the book 'From a Certain Point Of View'. In this Palpatine says Vader did tell him that Kenobi disappeared along with his words about becoming more powerful. It's described Palpatine had no idea what happened and was greatly troubled by Obi Wans words and his body vanishing. I'm not sure if it is considered canon but I thought it deserved a mention.

i mean shortly after Yoda died he appeared to Palpatine as a force ghost briefly and mocked him declaring he cannot win while visually palpatine gave off an appearance of laughing at Yoda in reality he was shaken to his core and could not understand how he had appeared before him like that so yea i think added onto Obi Wan it would definitely deeply concern him that he just vanished

Palpatine was of the mind Kenobi was beneath him and that Vader should be embarrassed he lost to his old master. Vader however did see him as a threat since he was the only person to have really beaten him as his full power. It also really pissed Palpatine off that Obi-Wan kept avoiding death, was never found by the empire, nor did he die during Order 66. However he still did not see him to be a threat like he did Yoda.

In TESB when Vader says “Obi-Wan can no longer help him” doesn’t that mean Palpatine knows in canon by this point?

Go back to the ROTJ novel. When Luke was first before the Emporer for a moment he felt a tremendous surge of fear emanate from Palpatine. Luke saw that Palpatine was afraid of his power. Of having that power being turned against him. When Palpatine saw Vader on Mustafar he must have been shocked to his core because of what had been done to Vader. Sidious must have thought that Obi Wan had absolutely no pity on Vader. He must have reasoned if Kenobi had pitied Vader he would have killed him. Seeing that Kenobi left Vader barely alive after the duel to suffer unbearably in such an agonizing condition had to have made Sidious feel that if Kenobi could be so merciless to his former Padawan, best friend, brother in arms, and brother in every sense of the word then what qualms would Kenobi have about killing him.

I don't blame Palpatine for hating Obi-Wan in all honesty. In his eyes, dude was weak when it comes to force abilities and I'm sure he couldn't care less about his skills with the lightsaber. Imagine all of that hard work he had in glooming Vader to be his most powerful apprentice, only to be defeated by Obi-Wan, who didn't even kill him. It must had been a very tough and bitter pill to shallow. Obi-Wan was just that annoying insect who wouldn't go away.

Not to mention that Obi Wan also defeated Maul and was favored by Dooku. No matter the apprentice, Obi Wan was a constant annoyance to Palpatine.

@@TeeAiDee He really hated him for killing Maul(thought dead in TPM), and it served as a wedge between Dooku and Palpatine as Obi-Wan was a link to Qui-Gon and the light showing Dooku like Vader after him was not fully sith because they still cared about someone from their pre dark side days. Obi-Wan was always proving that he was better then anyone expected and it really pissed Palpatine off. Vader was crippled by him and that was a huge insult but that he also left Vader alive twice showed he was showing in Palpatine’s eyes “cruel mercy”.

Yes Darth sidious had great plans for Darth Vader AKA Anakin Skywalker but Obi-Wan took it all away when he literally dropped him in the lava and didn't even kill him if I was Darth sidious I got to be honest I would have been annoyed to but I do like Obi-Wan Kenobi

Palpatine should have gotten over himself and personally dealt with Kenobi early on. Yes as Jedi go Kenobi was on the weaker end of the force. Yes he didn't do acrobatic fighting. But Kenobi demonstrated the truth of the adage is it's not the size of the dog that matters; its the size of the fight in the dog that matters as through sheer stubborn determination and dedication to the light side of the force Kenobi managed to be far more powerful than his stats indicated. Palpatine should have handled this one personally instead of letting this problem brew. He came to regret that one.

Arrogance is a sith trait, and Palpatine felt Kenobi was beneath him and that it was a waste of his time yet Kenobi was a bigger part of Palplatine’s downfall. Kenobi trained Luke, inspired him to be like his dad when good, and Luke in his hero worship of Anakin turned Vader back to the light. Yoda always thought Anakin was lost, Kenobi still hoped he might come back as he told Luke he considered him a good friend, and after all that happened he missed Anakin. He separated Vader and Anakin because he refused to accept his friend was truly gone.

@@timian210 He had too many victories too which is why he is so smug, he played both sides of the war for fools. Even to the point multiple powerful jedi could not sense he was a sith in all the time he met with them. Yoda, Mace, and Mundi should have been able to detect Palpatine but they too were arrogant and their power diminished while the sith grew stronger. ROTS novel really shows how stupid the jedi were and Yoda even realizes as grand master he really screwed up for decades if not 100’s of years by letting the jedi stagnant.

It's likely Vader kept Obi-Wan a secret in canon because he didn't want to go through more Sith lessons knowing how Sidious is wired if "Anakin" had told of Obi-Wan's demise Vader would get force lightning for it.

In a new hope Ben talks about anikin being a good friend and student when he gives luke his lightsaber .when Ben and vader are dueling on the death star he cast his eye towards luke knowing that his former friend was in front of him and his son was behind him who would bring balance to the force once again he felt his work was now completed

In a alternative Universe I could see Obi Wan becoming Sids apprenticr after he defeated Maul on Naboo even if he sensed Maul was still alive Maul was so ruined physically that only Dathomir magics could fix him up as long as Dooku did not join Sidious and The Skywalkers were not on his radar I could see Sids settling for Obi Wan unless he found a way to clone himself or Yoda yeah.

I think Palpatine would be sort of worried in Kenobi voluntarily entered the Force of his volition. It would imply Force power that the Sith perhaps did not know or understand. Vader’s “victory” over Kenobi was hollow.

It makes sense that Vader would stay quiet about Obi Wan considering how much Vader obsessed over finding and killing him, and that the Death Star had just been destroyed. Taking out Obi Wan was really only a victory for Vader since Sidious considered Obi Wan insignificant in the grand scheme of things anyway.

No, Kenobi was a lion who cut up 2 apprentices of Palpatine / Sidious. When Kenobi cut Maul into half on Naboo, Palpatine should have taken him seriously, but he didn't, so Palpatine was arrogant and stupid regarding Kenobi.

There is an actual "will" of the force. I believe the force had a grand plan to bring balance to itself and obi wan was a part of it. The force chose when obi wan was to die which is why the emperor always failed at killing him.

Usually your on point but there is so much wrong with this video. Vader didn't figure it out by himself. He hired Boba Fett to find out who the young pilot was that blew up the Death Star. Along with the lightsaber, Vader never knew that was his own, he only acknowledges that Obi-Wan had trained him well and assumed that the saber was Obi-wan's and thus in episode VI Luke completed his training by reconstructing a new one.

Every time i read the comments i see some of the copium dissipating. Yes in natural talent and innate power, obi wan wasn't blessed. But dude lived the code and trained hard. Anakin always had everything come easy to him. He barely had to work at it. When anakin steels himself as vader and embraces discipline - that's obi wans training coming through. Not the emotional nightmare fuel of palps

Unfortunately, for some it takes much proof to understand. Fortunately for some it only takes a little to see the glory of God. Not everyone can be articulate enough to explain why they believe in God or why he is real. But I’m glad Gods revealed himself to them. In the beginning nothing? Or in the beginning God? Can non life create life? No. Order can’t come from chaos and the cosmos has order.
