Palpatine vs the Jedi Masters: A Less Stupid Version

2 жыл бұрынIn this vfx fan edit of the Palpatine (Darth Sidious) vs Mace Windu and the Jedi Masters lightsaber fight, I re-edited the timing in several key places to highlight how the other Jedi Masters were killed nearly instantly. I also wanted to add in the Force Lighting and description of darkness that the novelization paints so vividly.

I just read the novel’s depiction of this scene and Stover nailed it. The dark atmosphere adding to the sith lord’s presence, the fact that he stealthily recorded the conversation for evidence, and the nod to Sidious’s evil sense of humor when he put a finger to his lips. Brilliant.

That's one of the saddest parts to me; the way this scene was filmed it really made those S tier masters look like mere padawans. Especially as we only very briefly saw them in battle at Geonosis (which I argue was also pretty poorly done in respect to showing the power of the strongest Jedi)

Thats one scene in this great movie that really bothered me. Never thought about the lights going out...that would be one things that could have helped. But using his lightning was a must....how did they not have him use it is beyond me. Great FX work on this.

Thanks Geo :) And yeah, every use of Force lightning in the films is just weird when you step back and examine them. It's like the filmmakers think it can only be used when someone slowly and menacingly raises their hands while delivering some memorable line.

Yeah the description that the novel gives of that fight is just amazing. The film fight choreography really struggled in many places.

This edit is nothing compared to the scene in the novel, but really only so much you can do without a full cgi recreation 🤷♂️
