Enjoyed the video. I like that these dozers are really working. Not some weak sand pit or a pile of topsoil. This shows the real working conditions that these machines have to work thru. 👍

They are catching hell with that rock. They will be tired at knocking off time. Great video. Thanks.

Great video man! The D11R operator seems very skilled and knows how to dig rocks out of the earth with his blade!

It all goes back to the operator. The D11's were built for this kind of work. With a good operator who's gentle on the machine and doesn't try to slam into this stuff, the 11's have no problem moving it.

Yep, you work a rock pile slow, one rock at a time. You start beating the machine it'll come back to bite you.Good Video!

Yeah it is. The 41 video seems to be a popular one, thanks!

It's defiantly not easy pushing but the D11's were built for this kind of work. And it all depends on the operator. Like with any machine, you have to know its limitations

To see these cats working in such harsh conditions,you start to realise how tough these machines really are also the driver must be absolutely done at the end of probably 12hrs.. The wear costs must be around £60-£80 per hour

Appearance wise no, but the R featured a lot of upgrades over the older N. You'll get to learn all about the R's and what changes Cat made to them when you see my documentary on them.

Tough work. Hard on the operator. Getting out of dozer in the eve feeling like you have done 2 days as a labourer

i wonder about the slack in the tracks.. if its wearing the drive sprocket sections faster as the track pins can ramp up the teeth instead of staying at the bottom. just wondering if one machine has its tracks set and kept tighter.. if it would have less wear on the sprocket and pins than one with loose tension like the machine in the first minute of this video. probably not something mentioned as there is a lot of money in servicing the under carriages .

Man, those look like some brutal conditions for those dozers. I wonder how often they go through a set of tracks and wear plates on the blades?

If you think that rock is bad, wait untill you see my new video featuring an 11N stripping! Keep in mind although the rock is brutal, the D11 was designed for this kind of work. I'm not sure how often they have to change wear plates

Wouldn't this kind of work be better suited to a larger machine, like the Komatsu 575? I haven't ever run a machine even close to this size, but I know when you start trying to do a job with too small of a machine, it becomes very costly, in time and maintenance.
@PAmining
@PAmining 9 жыл бұрын
kdw75 This job is was to small for a tractor the size of the Komatsu 575. Just because this is mining doesn't mean you take the biggest machine in the world and put it on the job. There are lots of factors that come into play to determine appropriate machine/jobsite match.
@PatrickDKing
@PatrickDKing 8 жыл бұрын
+kdw75 Yes it would. One machine and one operator with the Komatsu could possibly do as much or better than the two D11s...but we'd have to see both in action to see how they perform. People get all butt-hurt when you compare brands but SO FAR, I've seen overall better results from the 575s vs the D11s when looking at power, ripping, and volume of materials moved. On the other hand, so far, I've seen the 575s mostly moving earth/rock/mix and not boulders like in this video...so we'd have to see.

Not when you need 3 575s because the main one is down.. and so is the backup...
