Scoring57 There will always be exceptions. Again phenotype does not necessarily equate to genotype. I can think of a few people who are half European descent yet they look phenotypically like their African parent. You'd never guess they have ANY european ancestry much less 50 percent.

Scoring57 Also, Ancestry DNA is not accurate for many people regardless of ancestry. I think DNA. Land may be more accurate and reliable. Then again, as a genetic genealogist stated, no one vendor provides the accurate results. One vendor may provide accurate results for a portion of a person's ancestry but not for another and in the future, the same vendor may not yield accurate results. These DNA ancestry tests are in the infancy stage. You can't take the estimates as facts as many people seem to do. A person has to combine traditional genealogical research and determine if the DNA results make sense.

001islandprincess I am glad you said this because I believe my father is arab American yet my dna came back 1 percent from the middle east that is why I believe ancestrydna is not very accurate hopefully when I take the national geographic 2.0 test it will be more accurate

Biochemp33 There are many people from England who trace their family 500 years plus in parts of England, yet Ancestry DNA results indicate only 5% of their alleles match people who are natives to England (which may show up under Europe West and/or Great Britain, if I'm not mistaken), so yes, Ancestry DNA is not accurate for many people and as I indicated before, results are to be taken with a grain of salt. If it does not match known "paper genealogy" is is just inaccurate. It is strange for people to take these results as "exact" and "accurate". The results are just estimates to guide you to do further research which includes continuing with traditional genealogy and being tested at other vendors and/or uploading raw DNA results to get another perspective. In my experience, DNA.Land seems the most reliable given my family history/genealogy. Good luck with your research.

Biochemp33 I'm not sure about National Geographic 2.0. If they are the sister company to Family Tree DNA, I'd say no. I think it is best to order the test through one of the big commercial companies (i.e., Ancestry DNA or 23 and me) and then upload your raw dna results to DNA.Land and gedmatch.com for comparison purposes.

Gibby Nj Diverse dna doesn't mean we look white or mixed. And we don't.
@gibbynj3002
@gibbynj3002 7 жыл бұрын
I never said that we looked white. Diverse DNA, meaning Africa has many regions with different tribes that look completely different from one another. Some tribes aren't even that dark in completion, like the San tribe in southern Africa who tend to have lighter skin and eyes that many would call "Asian looking", but it's actually a look that started in Africa. There is no specific look to African people.
@Scoring57
@Scoring57 7 жыл бұрын
+Gibby Nj But some black africans would have to have to look white if blacks are so diverse that they can show the white features we see in this woman here and people like her. White people have many regions with different groups that look different from each other. And from a distance they look more different than most africans. Because they have colors that stand out more. But they're all still white and have a white look. Just like how black people look black still no matter how diverse our looks. We can never be diverse to the point of showing european features. That's the point. If you see features like straight hair (not permed afro, but completely straight), pointed nose, and thin lips and almost invisible upper lips, they're not going to be one of those "diverse" african features. There *is* a specific african look. Rounded nose, afro hair (rarely curly), thick lips, and shades of brown to yellowish-orange (like the san). If there was no black or african look that means there is no black people because what makes them black?
@gibbynj3002
@gibbynj3002 7 жыл бұрын
Again, there is no specific African look. The reason that Africans in the slave trade looked similar is because they were taking from the same region in West Africa.

@@LordHaveMurcielago yes, early African slaves to Jamaica came via Barbados,after they and the Irish-indentured workers of Barbados and many pirates took the Island from the Spanish. Yes, I know. One of the reasons I said that to her was because I expected her to have Native American and more European. Many people from Central American and the Caribbean usually have a very diverse racial background. Another reason I was surprised is that she has high DNA matches from West African Countries such as Nigeria and Benin/Togo, where full lips, broad noses, and darker skin are more prevalent. However, I know that not all Nigerians and Beninese people have those features, either.

How do people just deny somebody else's results like that? First of all phenotype and genotype is not the same, second of all not all Africans share the same features, there is so much diversity in Africa so you can't just look at somebody and go "I don't buy it". You are stunningly beautiful, but as a black man I would have never guess that you are 92 percent African. My guess would have been more like 35 to 40 percent and the same percentage of Spanish genes. But you can definitely go to Ethiopia or Somalia and fit right in because you can definitely pass for East African for sure. You have that look. I bet if you go to Nigeria they will ask if you are from Ethiopia, although some Nigerians have that East African look themselves. They don't all have the same features. I want to go to Africa myself. I need to do one of these test first though.

Lisa Sweet No one should ever take any of these ancestry DNA results at face value. More often than not, ancestry DNA and other vendors do not yield accurate results. As a genetic genealogist stated, one should only use these DNA results as supplementary information to confirm your "paper genealogy" research.

Yep, some of my Irish ancestors were shipped by the British to "Barbados or Hell" we were criminals on our own land back in Ireland back in that time (1640s to 1700s and beyond) and then they escaped and went to Montserrat, from Montserrat we went to Maryland and the rest is history. Yeah, millions of Irish were killed during and after the wars with the British and some thousands were "transported" to Barbados (the plan was to work us to death, literally to death, they never intended to see us survive) I am a descendant of a survivor. Just saying hello to my African-Irish Sister! Thanks for sharing your ancestry video with us. Y hablo Español también, mi esposa es de México. Brindis.

Given the way you look, I put a strong bet you are a mixture of mainly Fulani tribes and Sahelian tribes. DNA companies don't have all West African groups, and a reasonable assumption is they slotted you under a nation-state so you got,as it were, your 'money's worth'.

Just goes to prove. Don't be rude and jump to conclusions that you don't know! Skin colour and hair texture is no indication of where somebody is from or where their ancestors from. I think alot of people just didn't listen to what she was saying. They were just too busy staring and making wild assumptions . Remember Africa is just a continent carved up recently by the Europeans. It also means that not all Africans are dark with 5z hair! Some of you need to go away , read and travel!

My personal opinion you are not pure, so your features could still be this way due to the fact you are mixed. Your mixture was most likely long ago and 23 and me Ancestry would actually explain that. Also I am 92% for ancestry DNA, uploaded my score to my heritage DNA and was 90.9 African, then took a DNA test with 23 and me and was 90.4 African. I think it is funny when black people believe that if you are black you have to have a certain look. Also you are 92% and not 100%, so you have mixture that can show up in you or your family at anytime, it is still there.

I thought you would have more native on your test, anyway I am very satisfied with the result as well. Your trace from Nigeria is fine the Igbo or Hebrew tribe/ Ghana is also fine .There is a tribe there calls Ashante/ and from Sub-Sahara is fine as well, by the history of Hebrew, we have a lot in Sub-Sahara, Bennin /Togo, Sierra Leon have slave ports. Hebrew people are located all over West-Africa, as well as Europe; our people governed Europe before the Renaissance. All the Atlantic slave trades come from West-Africa, we all are Hebrew Israelite. We are blessed and lucky, Shalom! We are not African, it's a label they put on us.So-called Jamaican/ Panamanian/ Haitian/ Dominican/ Trinidadian and so forth, are labels, bywords.Praise the Most High for his Saints.

A very good book to explain your results is "When the world was Black, volume 1 and 2.' In it shows Ireland was black and the land King James Stewart came from in history. He is the author of the KJV 1611 authorized version of the so called bible. Benin/togo is Congo who are Igbo people taken in slavery. Slave were taken all over our world. Yet, many were already natives of the country who were made to be slaves. Keep researching my beautifu sister there is much to uncover. A lot of our true history has been surpassed.
