The previous recording of this story was much loved but suffered from substandard and choppy audio. It had been bothering me for a while so finally, I was able to find time to re-record it with additional sounds embedded within the narration for a better listening experience. Thanks for all the interest in these stories from a bygone era.

Thanks for re recording this , love these old stories of man eaters and the men who hunt them. I hope that in our ignorance we don’t wipe out the last wild tigers left. For the jungle would loose what makes it wild .

I can't imagine the abject terror suffered by the villages in the maneaters territory

Even better 2nd time round, laughing at him laughing at the cook chasing his mutton, hilarious, then slapped backed down to reality by strangled screams from a woman with a destroyed neck, I felt bad for laughing earlier, I really liked the extra sounds and illustrations, thank you for re- doing the video and reading though to be honest I didn't actually realise there were any issues with the other video, I was too ingrosed to notice.

I run a podcast called "Force of Nature" and on my show we have covered several of Jim Corbett's stories. I recently found this channel and am grateful for them. Currently working on an episode on the Panar man-eater. And being able to listen to it has helped a lot for research. Much respect. I plan on giving the channel a shoutout on my show too. I don’t know if people know this but there’s an actual surviving photograph of the Panar leopard. Which is very surprising because I don’t know how Corbett was able to photograph the animal in 1910 when cameras must have been very very rare and this leopard was shot in an extremely remote location.

This is the very peculiar story in the Corbett`s collection. Instead of this story I`m translated the Whole stories of Corbett in to Kannada. These stories are very popular in Kannada in name of HIMALAYADA NARABHAKSHAKAGALU ( the Man eaters of the Himalaya). This book is in TOP 10 for several years. Particularly Man eating leopard of Rudraprayag story was translated by K P Poornachandra Tejaswi.

It seems that even though the Panar Leopard 🐆 killed more humans, the Rudraprayag Leopard had to be more careful and cunning to survive the likes of Corbett and traps and such? Thus more publicity he received? Both were just as formidable as the Tsavo Lions. Two man eating Lions 🦁 that moved freely in an 8 mile camp with 4000 terrified workers, mostly from India. I do admire Corbett as I also respect those 4 big cats that reigned hell and terror down on mankind, who have no one but themselves to blame for them becoming man eaters!

The leopard kept trying to break down the door to the couple’s house!

The Masai tribe in Kenya would have no problem taking down such an animal. Even lions in the Amboseli fear those guys. They steal lion kill and hunt down prides which bother their livestock
