You are incorrect that you can't seperate video menu settings from those that are photo. That feature is found in the menu under the gear icon. Select "Creative Video Combined Set," Once you are there, switch all settings to the video icon. Once that is done then you can make seperate settings for video and photo modes. Now the photo and video setting will be unique. You don't need a switch. Just move from any photo mode to the creative video mode and the settings you have set will reflect the mode you are in (video vs. photo}. Hope that helps.

I have an OM-1, which I love. I was considering waiting for this G9II, but I’m glad I didn’t. For my use, I prefer the OM-1. But I’m just generally happy that M43 has two fantastic flagship cameras now for people. Most people will and probably should get this Lumix, but you won’t be disappointed either way. I really believe in Micro Four Thirds. Especially for wildlife and video, but also just in general I think it’s wildly underrated, affordable, clearly compact in terms of lenses, and produces great results that the vast majority of people can’t differentiate from the top end full frame cameras. The OM-1 and G9 should be two of the top selling bodies. Especially for keen amateurs, but also professionals. Having a smaller sensor obviously has the benefit of smaller lenses, but also more spare computing power for computational photography features, which should be far more known about and popular with photographers. I think full frame has its uses. Especially for portraits and low light. But I think a lot of its dominance comes down to this kind of word of mouth sensor snobbery and shaming. Imagine if OM System and Panasonic really go crazy with computational features like the ones we’re seeing on the latest phones. That could really give Sony and the other makes a headache if it catches on. I don’t necessarily want to delete objects from pictures with AI, but a lot of people probably would.

The G9II has not the same since it has the GH6. It is a totally new development sensor according to Sean Robinson from Lumix USA

great video, id love to see a comparison vs zve1 as you mention a couple of times as having better stabe. I dont think the stabe can be better than g9ii with telephoto lens? No one talks about the stabe on zve1 with telephoto lens

7:40 It's almost dark outside with an overcast and the reviewer shoots auto ISO, auto WB, f/6.3 iso2500 1/2000 SS? Interesting choice when the 35-100 is f/2.8

I don't understand why they are constantly changing ergonomy, like my G80 has circular roller around trigger, G9 didn't have it, it was more like on mirror cameras next to trigger, then G9 II has back round roller around trigger, why are they constantly changing it? And I don't see much buttons which could be reprogrammed, everything has it's own specific label, like ISO etc...which is good, but I need much more functions to moving with, but I guess those 2 buttons next to lens are programable and I hope they kept possibility to map arrows up, down, left, right as another programable buttons. Looks like decent camera, but there is no parallel universe in which I would pay such money for little m4/3 chip, sorry, camera market got crazy. I am thinking about switching to G9 because I like status display (I mostly have main display closed because I don't need it), but I don't think it's gonna be such a big difference compared to my G80. BTW, status display is another thing which G9 II doesn't have anymore, why? I don't get it, this is what makes difference compared to cheaper models and they remove it. When I switched from G7 to G80, it was a massive improvement of finder quality, difference is much bigger than how it looks on the paper, I wear glasses and I see nothing in G7 with them, with G80, I see much better and lens quality in finder is also much better, it's sharp everywhere. I tried G9 in shop and yes, it's better, but not that better compared to old G80, I just feel like there is no reason to upgrade if you have some 5-8 years old camera. Image quality is pretty much just their propaganda, my father has some prehistoric full fram canon and that chip has much better image than anything from m4/3 family, especially high iso when you check raw without denoising....it's not comparable at all.

Even on KZfaq, those photos look extremely noisy! I'm happy that after a few decades Panasonic finally is working on the auto-focus though. They didn't fix it in time for me to switch to Sony already but I really LOVED the IBIS in the G9 and GH5/6/II. If I could have auto-focus even at this level and the IBIS in this body, even as noisy as it looks, I'd have stayed with Panasonic years ago. But for now, Sony >

The same body as the S5, and the same matrix as the GH6, only slightly differently programmed. This was obviously done to save money. We will soon find out about this by watching more than one user test

Wow a FF MFT! Whoops, not a FF but same camera size….makes you wonder if MFT is loosing many of its advantages if it goes this route. That said, it is a great camera and can see the advantages if you do wildlife work. It is too big for my uses, but still tempting.

Had a small gx9 but it was inconvenient with bigger lenses and often I touched exidently buttons that I did not mean to. The handling of the bigger body is much better and easy. You have the advantage of smaller size and lower Weight of the lenses. I shoot with g9 currently, and I am going to replace it with the g9ii.

I have the GH6 and ordered the G9 II already .. i come from a Nikon DSLR, and there is a size difference in camera weight, size and lenses. Its true its not that small, but for me its still smaller then what i was used to so i dont really have an issue, and i dont think i would like the camera to be much smaller because of handeling. But i can understand if its a pocket kind of camera you are looking for this is too big. But i am using the Olympus Pro lenses and they are not really pocket kind of lenses anyway.

Great video review - but watching it on my 27" 4K studio monitor the amount of gain noise in the clips, especially early on, are horrid. The downfall of M43 :(

I've watched a ton of reviews on this camera. This is the only video where the gain and grain are this horrid. I'm inclined to say reviewer user error.

Generally modern cameras outperform display capabilities (m43 or otherwise). So it’s most likely the editing, KZfaq compression or your display that’s the issue before it’s the camera.
@UXXV
@UXXV 7 ай бұрын
Editing doesnt create red green gain noise and YT compression would actually smooth it out somewhat so it is probably worse. My GH5 looks this bad in low light, thankfully my Z9 doesnt but thats sensor tech again @@farren7254

it looks poor quality to me, it's a small sensor and wilth sony / sigma producing excellent small systems and lenses i have no idea who wants this. unless they produce an ultra small m43 with phase detect and no crop 4k i cant see me buying another m43 camera to use my lenses, i might as well sell them now its like they haven't noticed the size of the a6700 or ZVE1 and the compact primes etc... i am glad you pointed out the focusing is a "firmware update" away from being ok. The reality is sony dont just have a 10 year lead in focusing they have upped the game again with a seprate AI chip. as someone who bought into the idea of small cameras 10 years ago I find panasonics ridiculous full frame body for m43 camera very annoying. my a6700 with a sigma sigma 18-50mm f2.8 makes this look like it escaped from land of the giants. my ZV1 with a sony 24mm f2.8 can almost wfit in my pocket yet it contains the workings of the FX3 but with upgraded autofocus. the quality of video from these sony cameras, with much larger sensors, makes all talk of dual gain redundant. Assume the constant references to this being a photo centric model are just to stop the GH6 owners being even more angry than they already are. my view is if you are taking a hit on quality it can only be justifited by a smaller camera combo and this clearly isn't small. I'd buy a GX800 with phase detect and uncropped 4k tomorrow to pair up with my 20mm f1.7 but even as i rwrite that i remember the 20mm f1.7 it is slow and noising lens when it focuses. I think I have just convinced myself to sell the m43 lenses i own.
@djmouglie
@djmouglie 6 ай бұрын
Well sounds like M43 is not really for you any more. I personally like the system even if its not tiny. I have been looking around and cant find a camera near the same price with the same features, so for me this is a good choice. But i can understand if you value different things. I have a nikon full frame DSLR and originally wanted to buy a nikon, but their poor video specs, high prices and change of lens mount really made me not want to go that way. And then i looked around and there are ups and downs to all the systems, and no system is perfect at least not for any kind of money i can afford. So this is what fitted my needs best.
