I felt the same way too. But, it seems like she's only gotten stronger as the game progresses and players optimize situations better.

Plus frames and high damage rarely fall off on any fighting. If the plus frames go away though she’s gonna be doo doo no question.

One thing with a lot of these newer fighting games is that a lot of the easier characters seem to stay strong. Not to knock Marisa but she doesn't require a lot of brain power and her gameplan is more or less the same no matter who she's fighting. She'll stay strong

Fellow Honda main People get caught off guard more by his normals and command normals 2LP, 2MP, and 6HK put in work when the opponent would otherwise expect Headbutt or Butt Slam spam.

I think Honda is better than people give credit. You'll notice every argument, and I do mean EVERY ARGUMENT, for him being bad is "headbutt, buttslam spam scrubbiness get perfect parried noob hurr hurr". I have never once heard a pro say: "yeah, he doesn't have good space control because his lows don't go very far, so opponents can move in and out of his neutral while he is charging". Or " he has a good mixup game, if you're willing to give up guaranteed damage for it". Or" he has insane corner carry, but it feels wasted since he has mediocre control in that position" Or, "he is vulnerable in the corner due to being no invulnerability to throws". And it boils down to the fact that even the Honda pros are not very good at marketing his pros and cons because, frankly, they don't want explore his nuance (i guess because Honda doesn't feel like much of a nuanced character). Look at Snake Eyez. The man is willing to test the most obscure shit with Gief, but when I try to talk to pros about Honda's options it's "why would I bother doing that when I can just optimize?". And now we have a Gief in Capcom Cup qualified while there are 0 Honda.

@@han3wmanwukong125 I totally agree, it feels like even pros that main him are exactly not giving him Justice when talking about the pros and cons of the character. Snake Eyez is from another planet, but he invested also so much time in grapplers that he is now the one with the best mindset and will to squeeze every drop of potential outta Gief. I will say something that crybabies do not like: Honda needs a few buffs. He needs to be not grabbable at the start of sumo headbutt and either receive a bit more rebound after headbutt or being plus after it: there is more than a character that remains plus after a special, why not Honda? Blanka ball bounces back big time: Why not Sumo Headbutt? Od Specials need to not be beatable by a simple normal: it is ludacris that OD sumo butt can be beaten by a simple uppercut. True invincibility in OD Headbutt is also needed. A bit faster walkback speed: now it is the slowest of the game at 2.5, it needs to be at least 3, so you can play normals a bit better and not be footsied to death.

Nah he definitely wasn't downplaying Cammy. He's 100% spot on. I don't know how many times i've been randomly jabbed out of divekick.

Cammy is strong but the top characters are just better and Capcom cup qualified results prove this. The ONLY Cammy in the cup is only there due to a stipulation of Xian not being able to take 2 slots. Lol Cammy got in off a loss and that's the only reason there is one currently. No other Cammy legitimately made it in.

@@AaronW0885 thats true, Broski is starting to come into his own with AKI. I like his commentary. I wish more players would play AKI and see she’s not as bad as they make out. Just because a character doesn’t have the usual conventional skill set to make a good character doesn’t make them bad. People just need to get use to a different more unconventional skill set. For instance people moan that AKI cant play neutral but she’s got the tools to skip playing neutral altogether and mid zone, whilst still having a few good neutral moves to just about handle herself in neutral to get back mid range.

@@jayro792 this comment is spot on. I almost dropped her in the mid Diamond ranks thinking wins were so much easier with Juri. I hadn't embraced the fact that her gameplan just isn't the same as anyone else on the roster. Once I started playing her for how she is and leaning into her strengths, hitting Master became pretty easy. She just takes a lot more time than most pros and even intermediate players like myself usually want to put into a character to get good with them. But she's just so much fun to play. Conversions for days. Hope more people really try to push this character

I feel like if they gave Ryu more flexibility with the denjin hado speeds, that alone would be a big boost. Say instead of just a super fast fireball, he could get a super slow one with light that he could advance behind (not sure what to do with medium to make it feel unique when charged, but perhaps the speed difference is enough). I find it odd that Ryu loses access to his fireball-speed mix-up once he's charged, as it makes dealing with the denjin fireball much easier when it's always the same speed.

Juri stores as part of her bnb so it’s not hard to get charges on her

I don't want it juiced, I just wish regular fireball wouldn't consume it. Maybe just consume on EX fireball, otherwise leave it for hashogeki or SA1 / SA2.

Yes it's too underwhelming. It needs to at least do 25% of your hp and if thrown in a combo scaling will bring it down a bit but still viable.

Zoner doesn't actually mean they have to fight at range, it means their strength is in screen control. She is very much meant to control the screen with her poison pools, finger whips, and slow-moving poison ball. She's just garbage at it rn.

She's not a zoner. She doesn't have a template. She can kind of do a bit of everything. Not as well as others but when you mix up her style you'll start seeing more success with her. And her skill ceiling is way higher than the majority of the cast. She's really underrated

@AaronW0885 how so? Her level 2 is literal screen control. Her finger whips have good range, the frames and hit box suck. You have to use her whole kit, yes, that's what it should be. She's a dynamic zone, like Fauste. Threatening at mid range and can harass you at long range. AKI is allergic to DI at close range, so, zones imo. We all play differently though.

​@@OLDirty_Kungfulevel 2 is pretty garbage. It's way too slow to use as any level of zoning. Any situation you want the puddle, you can just do the special instead.

Why compare Aki with Fang if they're a totally different character😔 yes they use poison but their attacks and playstyle are not always the same😔

Look at the bright side, those are the characters that get the buffs when the patch finnally arrives :).

She really isn't that bad. I mean, don't take my comment the wrong way, I still think she's low tier... But the moment I heard punk say "she's supposed to be a zoner" I understood why he thinks she's trash. Her best features are her burnout pressure and her oki, and obviously the ability to convert into a shitload of damage. I think she has BY FAR the best burnout pressure in the game.

He zones pretty well, so he is a MK-like scrub killer, but he has a very high skill ceiling as well
