This has been great I’ve seen this trip from three different perspectives now. And I have to say Tim I think yours reveals the most about the trip. You’re footage feels like a behind the scenes. We need a Tim/Harald/Bald trip next time. Poor Harald, he’s dropped off the map a little bit. You guys should give him a call. Hey Tim I've been watching your journey to the Philippines for a while now and watching this journey with the guys cracks me up. I have to give you guys props because I'm not sure I could do it, I'm just referring to all the rain so much rain. I just feel like it would be very miserable to have to ride your bikes in it and have to stop every now and again. Well needless to say I'm waiting for the next episode. Safe travels.

Great job! I miss the whole traveling with strangers and getting to know them in the process. I traveled through Hue and Na Trang about this time of year back in 2007-08. Met some cool people and travel companions along the way as well. Man, many things have changed, while many things still seem the same! As they said when I was there "Same same, but Different." Na Trang has really grown up since I was there. I don't remember there being any buildings over 10 stories tall back then! The view of the room there is awesome! Good to know the prices for all the hotels are still fairly the same as when I was there and everything still seems super cheap as well. Looks like Lots of fun with a little bit of misery here & there, but that is just part of the joys of traveling backpack style! Cheers man!

For Ben and Bald: why not bring noise-reduction earplugs if easily bothered by noise when sleeping? That's known solution even inside cabin during flights so you can sleep undisturbed. What happened to Bald's torn sleeve in his raincoat? When my bosses & I went to Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh, and then Da Nang to Hanoi, we took domestic flights for both sectors so I didn't experience riding in trains. First time I saw triple-deck beds!

Cool bar scene in Hue at the beginning. 🙂 A prison cell has more room than that railroad sleeper with 6 people stacked triple bunked. At least you were on top, they say being on top is better than being on bottom. 🙂 Bald eating corn on the cob in the hallway on your search for the bathroom was a funny scene. That toilet would be hard for this old man. I could make it down but never make it back up. I imagine you get used to them even on a shaky weaving train. 🙂 I imagine Bald certainly drew attention on the city streets with his hat and armband. Taco Tim's has to be a great place to eat with that name. 🙂 Very nice hotel room in Na Trang with a million dollar view. Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure with us Tim!

Hi Tim Their was a native Viet nam beer called 33. Back in the Nam war lot of us drank it , not sure if still avail. I would trade a case of ($ 2.20) Budweiser for wooden case of the 33, but you had to return the bottles. Mr. Bald is usually right. I still remember the discussion in (I think Delhi), when his other friend, Baldr, wouldn't check into the perfectly good hotel, and they had to scout around for hours looking for a better one.

You guys had the road trip from hell.. But instead of fire and brimstone.. It was cold and rain. Tensions were flaring at the end . Understandably so. Ye need to have another reunion but this time in more pleasant surroundings.
