Fun fact, singing high notes is actually easier upside down. My choir teacher used to have us hang down from the waist to initially practice notes above the staff. I think it has something to do with an aligned airway.

So true, my senior in college (I was in college’s choir group) taught us to bend our body (90 degree) to learn how the sound should be. And then stand normally but you must sound the same as before.

True, for easier technique (?) When you can't reach the high notes you can be help with bending you body (like crouching). And it's not good if you tilted it backwards right?
@porcelainquill6485
@porcelainquill6485 4 жыл бұрын
@@Carmellx the way I was taught was just by bending at the waist like as if you're going to touch your toes but just letting your body relax there instead of stretching down or tensing. Bending backwards restricts airflow, so I don't think any singing exercises invole that. Of course, different people do better with different excercises, so this trick won't work for everyone. I personally find straw singing(basically humming while blowing through a straw into water, the goal being a consistent, not to strong steam of bubbles) to be the best for me because of the breath control training it provides.

As an opera singer, I understand why she was able to sing while upside-down. It's actually helpful to engage the core muscles when singing, especially high notes, because it forces you to support them properly, but also takes the stress off of your throat so that your vocal cords are free and able to actually phonate on them. We do a lot of techniques to do exactly this while standing (sometimes singing in a squat/plank/standing on one foot/etc.) just to get warmed up, and this just falls into line with the rest of them.
@nitzeart
@nitzeart 3 ай бұрын
Yes when I used to sing (mostly classical and opera) my teachers made me do exercises like that often. They were also professional opera singers. I reached my highest notes when lying down on the floor 😅 sad you can’t do that on stage. It’s tiring but fun and really useful to learn to relax and engage the proper body parts.

I nailed it (I practiced so much for that piece! 40 hours a day babyyy) but during it, my contact had managed to fold INSIDE my eyelid, and I was in so much pain. I couldnt see either (I'm nearly blind without my glasses or contacts) but I had memorized the piece after playing it over and over. Finally the contact fell out while I was bowing at the end of the piece. -_-

When I was in high school, this almost happened to me. We were to wear uniforms for a concert, and so we had provide our measurements. I provided mine as requested, but they fouled up the order and I ended up with a pair of trousers that were far too large in the waist, but there was no time or chance to do anything about it. I was able to secure it somewhat with a piece of string, but it still looked ridiculous. I was playing double bass, so I held the instrument against tighter and more consistently to keep it from falling. Afterward, it occurred to me that it would have been funny if I had some boxer shorts with a funny design, and then put on a comedy act by letting the trousers fall!

Why a boy would lick a brass instrument: BOREDOM.... it's a thing. Kids have a lot of energy, n often struggle to stay still. It's ACTUALLY unhealthy to sit still for so long, but we r taught to value staying still as a form of self control in society. Boys especially have trouble dealing with boredom and sitting still for too long. The brain starts to starve for something to stimulate it, hence he's licking something. Boredom is ACTUALLY pretty dangerous. You might laugh, but persons whom don't know how to constructively deal with boredom, or have a short attention span have an impulsive problem like "trouble making", or "fidgeting". Fidgeting isn't actually so bad. Not only am I a Mom, but I also had 3 little brothers. When boys get bored.... beware! At least this little boy just licked his instrument, and didn't start pulling someone's hair, or kicking the seat of someone.
