Yes, relating the data cards to the charts can be a bit confusing at times especially when you've haven't played in a while. One of the most useful tools for ASL, for some of their more complex procedures such as Artillery missions and resolution, is through the use of flowcharts. Thus, in Panzer, players can certainly benefit from some basic flow charts to guide players through some of the procedures.

Sometimes i have to rewrite parts of a rulebook to get the rules. But you're dead on with the ASL comparison. The AFV in ASL currently have me stumped and are holding me up. Panzer though I can get get. About to try Last Hundred Yards as well

I'm in the process of learning the game using the original base box and I'm really enjoying it! That said, I totally agree with your comments regarding definitions. I'm still trying to figure out what the heck an S-Type unit is and where on the unit cards I should look to determine if something is or is not an S-Type unit.

I actually just found the answer on page 40 of the rules under armor determination... armored/protected/soft...woohoo!

I think it is a great system. As you mentioned there are enough rules to go from beer and pretzel pushng counters around all the way up to even more AFV combat detail than ASL. Ialso always prefer D10 systems over D6. Easier to figure out how meaningful the DRMs really are. I wish there were some historical maps and scenerio packs using real world locations availble. For me that's where ASL blows this away.

Other than HASL's all the ASL scenarios are 'representative' much like these.

The 1940 and NW Europe 1944 expansions of Panzer both have scenarios based on actual battles with historical maps. I can recommend them.
