Great video. I wish I'd had access to it before I started learning Panzer. LOS is my least favorite part of learning a new game. I understand the need for the Spotting Phase to determine what orders a unit can receive, but its existence makes spotting through the rest of the game confusing, until you get the concept.

i wish they had used bigger hexes on the latest reprints. The game gets physically fiddley.

I can definitely see that considering there are no stacking limits. Hard to keep track of a slew of orders if you have multiple vehicles in a hex.

LNL & MMP both offer alternate art map sets with larger hexes. It is puzzling why GMT doesn't offer alternate map sets with larger hexes and different art.

This rarely should be a HUGE issue as long as you are following command limits and range rules properly, since units in same hex can share a single command. Also, if you often find that you want to issue all units in the same hex different commands, just represent eith one vehicle and keep the rest off map.

i was watching your video again at 27:49 you place T-34 at the ford and then shoot with the pz IV overwatch. The basic rules mentioned ford is -1 for height... my understanding for the pzIV to see him he has to be in the hexe adjacent to it to be able to see. So technically to be able to fire it would have to be in the hexe prior because now he can't see the T-34. I'm asking because I'm trying to learn the game right now and your video helps me to understand the mechanics of the game. Thanks

Good catch. I must have blanked that the ford has different elevation - in that case the surrounding terrain would block LOS.

@@CataclysmNow_ thanks for your response I was not to sure and re-read the rules and ask... I could have misunderstood as well. thanks again for the response

You have the range to hit backwards. You have to roll under the value to hit. Shorter ranges have higher numbers to roll under so it's easier to hit.

Slip of the tongue. I corrected myself later on.

Nice intro into your learning the game. A couple of points to watch out for, from the view I saw it seems like you had overwatch just on moving units, but it can also be used for units that fire. So the OW tank could have fired at the Soviet tank that fired at the first German tank. This makes for good decision points throughout the game. Second, is spotting you have it all good, but there is more to it that most people struggle with in the beginning. The main point, Spotting is continuous throughout and across turns. Units are unspotted only if there are out of any LOS during the spotting phase.

I see - so over watch isn't purely reactive. You can target units that fired previously. That makes way more sense. Thanks for watching and the pointers!

I hope you play long enough to get to the advanced rules because there aren’t many videos on that.

I plan on it. Currently slowly phasing them in every week with a standing F2F game night. I'll probably break it up into pieces, tackling each new set of concepts.

you didn't say what the -5 on the movement was.
@CataclysmNow_2 жыл бұрын
That’s only used in the advanced/optional rules. It pertains to whether or not the vehicle gets bogged down in certain terrain types.

These rules are great too bad the map is low effort art.
