In this extract from Papaji Satsang of the 4th of May 1993, a man called John from Norway writes that Papaji has finally given him hope to become enlightened and that he will try to become Buddha.
Papaji firmly explains that both doubt and hope take one to the past as they are both expressions of the mind. Papaji compares the mind to a graveyard.
P: "For one second give up everything that you've heard
or read. That's all you have to do. That's called Satsang.
Any thought takes you to graveyard. Only living man don't think.
Living man doesn't need to think. He's living.
Living means presence. In presence, you don't think.
Presence is presence: absolutely presence without time."
In the end, Papaji addresses the devotee as Saint John of the Book and tells him that this time his work is done.
