Berlin Wall. That's what this Game is Really Based on the 'Berlin Wall'
@gnas18973 жыл бұрын
Although they did capture the spirit, there are some odd stuff. As far as I'm concerned, crossing the Berlin wall was possible but "work" wasn't a valid reason. East/West Germany were nowhere near as poor as the game portrays. I really like the game though

I line from Star Wars: Rogue One that I feel summarizes Papers Please is when asked by Guerra if she likes the Empire's flag flying over every planet she responds, "it's not a problem in you don't look up." Tight budget, stark responsibilities for home and family, as well as being one witness to greater political machinations of government and EZIC. All "doing your job", which erriely echoes "just following orders" from our world's history. Simple game with solid theming, making immigration checkpoint thrilling game.

The point of the game was completely lost on me, because I was just too good at it. I was almost always able to break the rules whenever I felt like I needed to, simply because I was making money hand over fist and could just ignore the occasional fine. I don't recall ever being worried for my family's well-being after around day 3. So it's interesting to see someone else's perspective on how the game is _supposed_ to go.

idk why but that clip at 5:52 made me almost tear up, i can't even tell if it's a comedy, is it from a show called office space? i've never heard of it, but could someone explain it to me?
@mutterboutasaurus2355 жыл бұрын
Office Space is a film, and one I recommed watching for sure. It is a comedy, and a damn funy one at that, but it derives a lot of it's humour from just how banal and miserable these sorts of white collar jobs can be. The main characters feel lost in the system and helpless to do anything to change their situation until the a twist in the plot happens early in the film. The character in the clip, Milton, is a running gag secondary character who has issues speaking up for himself. His managers continually abuse this to force him into ever more degrading work until the final, deserved comeuppance at the end. I probably made it sound dry, but it's charming, endlessly quotable and even a little uplifting. If you have the chance, check it out!

@MinerGameroneinonly4 жыл бұрын
Cause one of the endings was letting the border wall be destroyed.
@MinerGameroneinonly4 жыл бұрын
and the other reason is that the flags are very similar to the flag of WW2 Germany (Since one of the flags of WW2 Germany have a black bird on its flag, same as it's Great, great grandfather.) (Also cause the flag of USSR to have a Sickle and Hammer on it)
@jacob4144 жыл бұрын
MinerGamer one in only yeah you can pretty much predict that Arostoka falls if Grestin falls
@renanleandro59143 жыл бұрын
What do you think Grestin is? That there is a East Grestin in Arstotzka and a West Gresting in Kolechia? Grestin is a city divided by the two countries, like Berlin was divided by the US and the USSR during the Cold War.
