Very helpful video. Super easy to follow, and Dr. Coffee Brown has a totally chill vibe about him that I find actually incredibly relaxing. His quiet confidence makes everything sound so doable. Pretty hilarious. And not surprising that he's a retired doctor and now professor. He has excellent spiral staircase-side manner.

Absolutely love listening to you talk. Super easy to listen too. I hope you teach for a living!

This is an outstanding "how to" install video! This fella reminds me of my uncle. Super intelligent individual who understands the fact that there are things that we aren't skilled/experienced in so, we bring in people who are better skilled in those areas to somewhat guide us. I purchased the exact same kit from Paragon (little different application situation). Great kit! I had the same structural integrity concerns. In my mind (what I know about physics and structural engineering) instead of adding more bolts/screws, I did the math and went to metal supermarket and had them cut 10 pieces of pipe (same dimensions as the tubing as steps and dropped them in between each step. Like this fella said, probably not necessary but, gives me peace of mind. My "design" utilizes gravity which "sandwiches" all of the pipe sleeves one on top of another. Relying (much) less on the set screws for vertical stability. I still installed the set screws (with blue lock tight) in order to prevent possible horizontal movement of each individual step.

This is very helpful, thank you. I just sent this to my GC (S Caifornia), he is complaining that his installers cannot figure out the installation. I wish you are in S California we would hire you to install this paragon spiral staircase we ordered. How is the quality ? the GC is also complaining of the quality.

Directions Step5 on Pg. 4 THE TREADS MUST BE FASTENED TO THE COLUMN WITH SELF DRILLING SCREWS. A SET SCREW CAN ONLY BE USED IN ONE OF THE THREADED HOLES TEMPORARILY TO HOLD THE TREAD IN PLACE WHILE INSTALLING THE FIRST FASTENER. THEN REMOVE AND REPLACE THE SET SCREW WITH A SELF DRILLING SCREW

What was the material of the top rail? It seems much more flexible than the one in my kit. You may have mentioned it in the video. If so, I apologize.

awesome video! I am about to purchase the bare minimum staircase case from paragon for my outdoor upper deck. The prime finish which is under 900.00 plus shipping. This will replace my 12 wooden deck steps which cuts across my backyard and we hate it. Thanks for a great tutorial. How long did it take to arrive?

I bought and installed the same exact stairs layout. I counted four people struggling for NO reason. No way is it this difficult. One person and your ten year old child can install this. The ten year old is only to keep you company and discuss about how cute Brittany K is at school . Not Brittany C! (Brit C was so last week) Pay attention to your kids.. Anyhow, INSTALL THE PLATFORM FIRST! That's it. that's the whole trick.

Oh my goodness my husband went on his last journey 5-18-2020 . But before he did about 20 years ago the neighbor boy was looking for something under his bed with a lighter and caught his house on fire and it being a windy day in fact burned our house to the ground . This made us have to build another house . ,Never getting what we put into that house ,so figuring well let's just build this house to be what we really want . We then got custody of our two grandchildren so we built two lofts and built a bridge connecting the two sides of our house and he put a wrought iron spiral staircase case up . I am now having a problem with it . It is lose and rattling right in the middle of it it looks like it should have had another like what I would call a coupler . I don't know what you would really call it . But my question is . Is it possible , that I could try to find neighborhood men to come and take it apart and reput it back together again . Maybe my husband didn't do right . I hate the thought of someone getting hurt and I love the stairs .

We had 2 construction professionals install and found it a full days event. The wood treads are not fitting ??? We were not able to install the platform first? Not sure how Paul was able to install the platform first.
