Here it is, Part 2 of WALKER vs CRUTCHES! If you haven't watch PART 1...go watch it first! (Below)
Well after my walk with the forearm crutches I must say I need to walk more often! I am out of shape when it comes to walking. SO the answer, I definitely prefer to walk with the forearm crutches. Big reason being it's what I'm used to. I've been using forearm crutches for 22 years now and feel very comfortable using them. I found with the walker I was more stable holding onto the walker but I could not get enough leverage to "hike" up my right leg so my foot wouldn't drag. Which you can hear in the video PART 1.
Also, travelling, the walker does fold down but takes up more room that the crutches. The crutches can also be adjust to a shorter length for easy storage.
So there you have it! I'm sticking with the forearm crutches!
Thank you for watching!

Hey I live in the US but buy all my medical equipment from Europe because their equipment is so much better (like their healthcare system). They have crutches with shock absorbers, silicone grips, and crutch tips that swivel (with absorbers too) and are able to grab 100% of the surface at all times for better traction as well. The type you are using remind me of the kind they have here that just slowly destroy your hands, elbows, shoulders..... it is like punching the ground with every step because there is no shock absorption whatsoever and you risk more falls because those tips will wear on one side only because everyone uses a different position. The wheel chair is nice though.

Hey Bruce Villa - Very interesting. I'm going to search for European medical companies that provide those types of crutches. The rubber tips get worn down so fast. Always replacing them. And I find with the crutches I've used they always end up making clinking and clanking noises. I can't sneak up on anyone! Thanks for watching!

I noticed you swing your hips a lot to get your legs to move forward but you are much faster with the crutches than the walker, however with the walker you could sit down if you needed to.

So does a wheelchair. You can carry crutches on a wheelchair. You can’t carry. A walker. Therefore it makes crutches more efficient:

Are you using KAFOs to stablize the knees and ankles?
@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314
@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I use AFO's on both feet to help stabilize overall. I wear them every time I go outside for yard work, if I go into town, workout at the gym, drive... they help reduce the spasms in my legs. Otherwise my legs would be bouncing uncontrollably. I have a walking video where I show my AFO's. Thanks for watching.

I believe if you want to give them more of an objective trial then you need to use the walker for at least a few days if not a few weeks that way you get used to it and then you could have a more objective opinion. When I was listening to your commentary it sounded like a lot of your difficulties with the Rollator walker were due to inexperience. Whereas you are used to/comfortable with the forearm crutches and more inclined to use them/prefer them. If you listen to your commentary objectively I believe you may hear the same thing. I am not saying that the walker would be better for you just that I believe you didn’t give the Rollator walker a fair chance. A walk up and down the driveway isn’t really going to give you a good idea unless there is some kind of massive fail That can’t be easily corrected Or a massive improvement that is easily noticed.

HI Matthew thank you for watching and I appreciate your feedback. Very true. I jave been using forearm crutches for along time. What I don't think I mentioned in the video was when I was first injured my first aid to help walk was a Rollator walker. I worked with physio for weeks using the walker. I couldn't seem to find a rhythm back then. I then tried forearm crutches and found comfort and rhythm right away. Again, yes ... after all those years I could give the walker a long go!
