There is something hilarious about the rat story not having a punch line. It's crazy how he continues to deliver these witty, funny speeches. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since he is a writer.

CJ is also a distributor. The production company of PARASITE is 'Barunson', not that big company in South Korea. I don't know what you think is an 'independent film', but "Marriage story" that won this award (for screenplay), for example, cost $ 18 million. Parasites, on the other hand, cost $ 11 million. I think the boundary between 'independent' and 'mainstream' is ambiguous. Isn't that why this awards is called The Film Independent 'SPIRIT' Awards?

dddk99 Even thou CJ would be considered as one of the huge corporations in Korea but compared to Netflix CJ is not that huge company. The budget for Uncut Gems (Netflix) that received best male actor is almost twice bigger than the one for Parasite. So it is quite fair to say parasite would be an independent film from The U.S. perspective, while it is actually considered as mainstream back in Korea.

He's good enough in English to be understood by his western actors. Someone just needs to translate the screenplay into English then the actors will go from there. Note: He gets actors that he can trust with his story. Tilda Swinton calls him a close friend and Chris Evans loves his direction & vision. Who needs to be an expert in English?

Yuck. It was gross scene when the girl removed her panties in the back seat of the car to accuse the driver for having sex with his gf in the car. I felt bad when the mother pushed the maid down stairs who died later of concussion. I never re watched it the movie. 😷. How come people root for this movie. It sends all the wrong message.

This movie was R rated for a reason. If you didn't see the rating; it's your fault. These had adult themes. If you're that sensitive or offended easily, why didn't you heed the rating. It's common sense. Are you even an adult?!
