OP should have sent a long email on how they mistreated her growing up and that she wants nothing to do with them for the rest of the life. She let them off way too easy. They will take their conviction of being in the right to the grave.

I would have taken care of the parents, but only after a written agreement has been signed for them to pay you back.

With parents like that, were I informed that they got in an *cc*dent, I'd say, "Well, that's unfortunate. The s*rv*v*ng part, anyways." And then hung up. Also the US health system works with financial agencies to allow people to pay over time. The parents had no intention of paying OP back because if they wanted that kind of arrangement, they would've just gone through the hospital's partnered financial agency and saved themselves the embarrassment of asking their children.

Niiiiice, with that first part especially. I get why you had to use the asterisks, GestapoTube hates free speech.

@@princessmarlena1359 Yeah, I actually didn't think that would trigger it, but it did, and I had to redo my comment. Their censorship is getting so ridiculous, I can't even make sense of it from their perspective anymore.

Wouldn't the at fault driver be responsible for the medical bills as well?

Your story has many connecting points with my life story, just you were lucky to cut them off when you were young enough. I understood the reality almost near my 40s when they squeezed me financially and emotionally. Now they don't contact me at all but send indirect messages with other people that they are not doing well. So still waiting for my support. You did the right thing. You have to show the way to the narcissistic people no matter who they are. Live a happy life with the ones you choose to keep near and share valuable time with. ❤

I think it's really weird that OP keeps saying "oh but they're not really her kids" when if a man refused to claim his step kids he'd have hell to pay

I get not being the golden child, as a daughter in a house full of mostly men I was never given a second thought. my aunt actually had to tear into my dad verbally to get me a bra and pads when I hit puberty. I couldn't do anything right while my brother and cousin could do no wrong, even when one of them ended up in jail or was caught with drugs. I always got the bare minimum but the boys got everything. if I starved my brother ate like a king. there was even a time my dad's ex got burgers for everyone except me, even the dog got a burger. needless to say I don't really have much to do with them, but when my dad needed me most I was still there. he's started to come around now that he's remarried and he even offers to help me out during hard times. I have been burned a few times trying to help family and had to learn to stand my ground. It's never easy but I'm proud of OP for not giving in to her wish to be loved by her "Parents".

If it’s the other trucks fault why do they need you to pay the medical bills?

Let your parents figure it out. Don't dare help them.

If it was a car crash and the other drivers fault, the car insurance company should pay for 100% of my bills.

Golden child is now an unpaid nanny. Don’t pay for parents they won’t pay you back. If you do get a contract for loan with lien on the house.

I feel bad for OP where her family is concerned, but her bitterness spilling over onto her comments about her sister's family was too much.

I wouldn’t visit them if I were you I just stay at home. I mean, I’m surprised that she even came there considering that the parents have hated her all their life and now they expected to come when they’re dying, call me heartless. I don’t give a s**t the way that those parents treated her is despicable and I would never let that slide with me
@margotmotard72942 ай бұрын
Having graduating from a business school, you should have know to make them sign a contract stipulating they were contractually obligated to refund you from the debt they accumulated. Making people sign a debt recognition is the least you can do when borrowing huge amount of money. I know it is an obligation in my country -> more than 4 000 and you have to make a contract. It gives ammunition to the giver.
