I agree, the part with "they aren't her kids" kinda weirded me out, I mean, biologically they aren't, but she has the right to love them as her own, as long as she is fully aware that they do have a biological mom who loves them too (and doesn't try to take her place) I'm cool with that. Yeah I really get the sense that OP's sister isn't as awful or even and privileged as OP thinks. It sounds like the parents pitted them against each other and OP now is going to interpret everything the sister does as manipulative and evil. And emphasizing that the adopted kids aren't her "real" kids and somehow should matter less than the biological family that OP herself knows is awful is just really messed up.

Like not lending money that isn't hers to give to their parents, prioritizing her new family/prioritizing taking care of her new toddlers, but also at the very least visiting their parents for a few days, all those decisions sound very logical and like the sister has her priorities right. Like as a person she sounds just as unlikable but I don't feel like she did anything particularly wrong in this story...

Why is someone's daughter obligated to pay for her parents medical bills anyways? We can't confirm whether or not Allison at least considered it, but like... even if they're family, they CHOSE not to have insurance when they could afford it, and Allison is under no obligation to help them other than "because family." It might not be morally correct, but asking your daughter and her rich husband to pay for YOUR medical bills because you CHOSE to not have insurance and they're rich isn't morally correct either.
