With the help of Jaani Musik, I found a scammer who was sending fake invoices so that he could steal money from people in the USA. But he lives in Kolkata where the police never seem to take action against scams like this. So is a better approach to try to get his parents to stop him?

@@IEKevin this is such a huge part of it. I try not to hate on scammers as a whole because there's bigger systems at work that cause people to do these "jobs." Of course most won't change overnight because that's just not how human brains work and we're talking potentially an overhaul of personal values and that change is a process, even a journey. And I'm sure most of us when in our early-mid 20s fixated on 'getting that bag' and even justifying it with "my parents will be so proud! I can provide for them!" even if the work was harmful. This is why I love watching and learning about these scams from Jim Browning and others because while we can focus on stopping one scammer and helping one victim at a time, we're also learning it's the owners making big money at the top who are benefitting the most and bribing authorities to keep scamming.

And not just there in Kolkata. I remember a video where this lady was looking for a btc atm and Jim got the number of the store. He was able to get the store employee to warn her. But then the scammers told her to leave and go to another store. Jim called the police in her city. I forget what city but they literally seemed more concerned at how Jim was in the scammer's computer than the fact a citizen in their town was being scammed. I did a little research on that town right after seeing the video and that police dept is next to useless too. 😡😡😡 I could tell Jim was frustrated. He really did try to save her though.

One of the simplest things but eaiest to overlook is take your time - Scammers do not allow time for possible victims to think or tell anyone who might alert them. No legitimate business would pressure the customer, and would totally understand the customer hanging up and calling back on their official website. But they are master manipulators after all. Perhaps we need to crowdfund a massive advertisement campaign or leaflefts that can be posted to the most vulnerable in order to raise awareness since we're more likely to succeed here than ever get scam call centres in india shut down.

This was very smart. What a lot of people don't understand is that India is a shame-based culture rather than a guilt based culture. You'll often hear about "bringing shame upon one's family" Even if you tell their parents and the parents are okay with it, they won't be okay if you tell the parent's wider community. They will be so embarrassed if their community knows their son is a scammer. I really want to see you go further down this route. Yes! This is exactly the type of thing I've been wanting to see for years. You probably noticed that this loser was quick to mention his "reputation" being ruined if people found out he scammed people for a living. He is definitely not the first scammer I've heard say this, or that their parents would be devastated to learn they'd raised a criminal. Imagine answering every phone call, holding your breath just hoping it isn't a scambaiter because just two days earlier, while you were out with friends, you saw one of your "colleagues" name and face plastered all over billboards/ LCD screens with the enormous word "SCAMMER" splashed across it. For as large as India is, I would imagine that even the big cities have fairly close, tight-knit little communities within it, where people know one another or, at the very least, recognize faces. The fear of walking to "work" one evening and seeing everyone literally turning their backs on you and calling you a thief might be enough to at least make these kids stop and consider if the quick payday is worth it. Then again, some people are just criminal scum and the only thing that will stop them is prison or death so...

something I like to do, that can be very easy, is to get a call flooding program, and finding the number for the call center. once you do this, set the program to call them from various numbers (mine can do it from about 300 numbers at once, but some are less extreme) and have it play some loud noise or similar. this does a few things, 1) it wastes their time, which annoys them, and also means they can't spend that time scamming, 2) large volumes of calls often cost the company money, which can drain them very quickly and 3) it forces them to go offline for a short amount of time, and often get new accounts, new phone numbers, and often makes them wary and more likely to hang up on actual victims. this costs a large amount of money and time on their part, but is relatively cheap for you and is automated, so you can leave it running and go do something else.

He even threatened her to burn down the house, so we went to the police, they found him because my wife had remembered the license plate. I snuck a peak at the screen when they punched in the license plate and saw his name. A slight amount of facebook stalking later i found out that his parents lived just 10 houses down our street. He was reluctant to pay for the smashed doorbell (Not the cheapest model) but when i said to him "I wonder if your parents that i know live down the road, knows how you behave" and suddenly he paid up without saying another word, even though he had told the police that he would not pay, as he claimed he had nothing to do with it being broken. He knew that if i told his parents how he behaved towards the "neighbors" where the parents lived, he was in for a shouting :)

In India, people care a lot about their image. They want to show themselves as the best just like social media. Showing their parents what their son does is a good options, but in the end they are his parents and eventually he can fool them in thinking he has left this behind and now is doing a honest job and the parents will try to hide this to save their family image. Publicly showing his acts will now show the relatives and friends of this world what he truly does for a living. I think this video is the best action that you can take Jim. Goodjob!

I say, come up with a dossier, a few pages, at least one with nice color glossy images of the scammer, and send to all neighbors on the block in front of the house, and the block behind. Could make a video about that I suppose, lol. Fire those off and the parental pressure I'm sure will skyrocket to as yet unseen levels, they'll MAKE him quit then I bet

Jim! You do such an awesome job of getting this done. I wish you guys would all unite as the People's Call Center again. I also had an idea that might help you help these people even more if it's possible. Possibly hijacking the call numbers they use and forwarding them to some of our phones so that we can help you by warning people, as well as possibly helping these victims uninstall and recognize scam programs. I'd certainly be willing to help out doing this. I've got almost 20 years of technical background, and it sickens me to see these people getting taken advantage of.

I was able to waste 25 minutes of their time today after being cold called an informed that a second Amazon subscription had been requested on my main Amazon account - which I do not have to start with! They talked me through installing AnyDesk on my computer and asked me for a 9-digit ID number (which I made up) and they spent quite a while trying to figure out why it wasn't working as expected. I then asked the nice chap (Indian accent) what the weather was like today in Kolkata and informed him I was already aware of this scam. I should have recorded the conversation. It was very funny. You are all doing the same thing, trying to get these scammers to stop, but having watched many videos, some scammers will never quit even though it's not them getting the money, but their bosses. They need to be frightened so much that they have no choice but to leave the scamming world, what is wrong with them, too lazy to get a proper honest job? I am a scam victim from when my Dad died in 2018 though not refund but 'lottery win' and I lost £20,000. To this day my family don't talk to me and I am disabled. So yes these thieves steal and break up families and another yes, he is still on Facebook scamming other people from Nigeria. So I love those videos when the scammer gets nothing it. it makes me so happy to see them lose out. This is a great video. You're doing an awesome job! Please, keep up the great work. For the question raised which is; how to deal with scammers? I have an idea that might be worth trying out. We know that most scammers are teenagers that want to show off to their friends and they'll probably do a lot to "be cool". The way they do that, mostly, is social media. selfies, cool posts, religious posts or whatever gets their gears in motion. What if his own social media account, "magically", had posts about the scams he's running and the victims he has hurt. It would show his friends, the ones he's trying so hard to be cool in front of, that he's a bad guy. Public Shaming against the people he's been trying to be cool in front of. I think that would hurt a person with that mentality, a lot (i believe). Just an idea.

At the same time reveal everything to his family and friends and the police. After you've done this connect to his hard drive, Hack his computer and lock it down. Then reformat his heart drive. Most of them are using the old style hard drives and this will make it impossible to use. Another message is simply to delete all of his data. This will cause massive problems for him. If you can connect to the server for the scam center, you can really do some damage. You must be willing to be as forceful as your enemy and attack without mercy. These guys have no heart or soul and only understand force and Only respond to an incentive that will get their attention! You guys are just far too nice...
