Who makes those scam popups?

Күн бұрынSo you got a fake virus message, but how did it get on to your computer and who is responsible for these messages?
PC Protection Help LLP create these fake messages. Not only do they create them, but they periodically log back into the PCs of the people they previously scammed in order to scam them again with yet more popups which the sneakily place on the browser.
Unusually, this group are in Jaipur (66/114, Pratap Nagar, Sanganer, Sector 11, Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302033, India), but they have a connection in the US. The owner's name appears on all invoices and he pays for their phone services.
The company website is compiko.online and their address also appears on fix69.com

Most international companies wont hire you in a role that requires you to speak a language you can't express yourself in. The difference is that the actual indian microsoft employees are educated and speak proper english even if they might have an accent.The main tell tale sign of a scammer is poor english grammar and enaunciation whíle claiming to have western/anglo saxon names and residing in the west.

I mean I was once figuring out something with Microsoft and they connected to my computer. With a bunch of agreements etc., but it was legit Microsoft, I connected them from the Windows 10 in-build support option. I am good with computers myself, but it was a kind of strange thing with notifications we were figuring out. You can also have an additional store warranty for your device, and they can help you remotely as well. So as for the advice to never allow anyone to remotely control your computer I would disagree. You can do that, but just if you're certain those people are legit.

@@firehedgehog1446 I understand that, but they can also act in a proactive manner to prevent these crimes from happening in the first place. These scammers wouldn't be so brazen if there was a chance they were being monitored. As it stands, police aren't interested in anything that's not easy to convert into figures and statistics that give the appearance of stopping crime. The system needs to be overhauled and updated to reflect modern day reality.

I remember when I was younger I was on a Minecraft map website and one of these popped up and scared the frick outa me. It said something along the line of “warning a virus had been detected” and I ran to my dad and asked what to do, he told me to just close the ad.

@@jessesmith8388 True. That is why I have informed my parents to call me or my brother whenever they have any issues with their computer. I was always interested in IT, so I learned very early on about such scams. While I was still living with them, it was never a problem. But when I moved out, the first thing I did, was to call me if anything wrong was with computers. In the last 10 years, I only got 3 calls about it. 1 was about a similar scam with virus popup. And from talking with them about it later on, it appears my mothers co-worker also had a similar scam appear on her computer, and my mother told her it was a scam, as she was about ready to call in for "help". I was proud of her about that one.

There are always people who want to say these scammers are victims of circumstance and they are no other options. Nonsense. Just google "call center jobs" and a name of of a big Indian city and you get back hundreds of listings. These scammers are criminals and not victims of the system.

I reported a scam to Delhi Police, they didn't do anything and closed my complaint in a couple of months. The whole Indian police system is so incompetent and corrupt. It won't be a big deal if they might be getting some commission from fraudsters each month.

I say "to be honest" and "absolutely" often. I also say "I can say honestly". I am not in the habit of lying. They're just ways to emphasize what I'm saying. Obviously Richard is a lying thief, but, not everyone who uses those phrases is a liar.

@@Ban00 Funny thing is that he's an American. If he registered the company under someone else's name, he can get prosecuted for even more. Not to mention you *have* to give specific, personal details in order to legally register the company, which he had done. The Indians behind the real scam have conned him so hard that even if he realizes what he's done, he won't back down because of the massive, inescapable legal ramifications it holds.

It's funny, a lot of youtubers have a patreon and I already knew Jim had one but this time it surprised me and the reason is that Jim is such a mastermind hero, I kinda see him as someone with Bruce Wayne money.

The most famous scambaiters, on YT, are not wealthy or even close to it. Look at Scambaiter's channel. That dude has some harcore skills and is a savage on what he does to the scammers but he couldnt even get the payed version of a software that is paramount to what he does. It was a viewer that reached to him a payed it. IMHO this makes him even more "heroic". Its not just a rich kid passing the time. Its a regular dude doing what he can to stop, or at least slowdown, scammers

Excellent work! This sort of thing is very much needed. I have a friend who was scammed at least 3 times over the past few years for between $250 and $300 each time. They just recently (last week) got with this fake popup again and took my advice to not give these people their money again. I've shared this video with them so that they can maybe really understand what I was trying to explain. Thank you for your work!

I have over 20yrs xp in IT and hate seeing this happen to my neighbors. I reluctantly tell people what I do for a living and somehow people find out. Once they find out you're "a computer guy" they tell you all their computer issues. I had one elderly neighbor that somehow heard what I did for a living and she came to my front door one day says she's being hacked. I asked her who told you this and she told me the tech on the phone with her husband right now! I said the guy on the phone is the hacker (scammer, don't want to give them the title of someone that actually has skills with code). I went to their house, hung up the phone and turned off the computer when they had the typical Event Viewer up and talking prices in notepad. The husband was shocked how I just shut it all down, then I explained to him what happen. Told him to change their passwords and I checked their computer for viruses, educated them and took 3 steps then flew off. That was my origin story of helping the elderly in the neighborhood and now I let them all know my services are free of charge. =)

@Սասունցի Կտրիճ: Not just that but even newer computers probably don't cost more than the $500 charge (if you're dropping $1000 or more on a computer, chances are you're tech savvy enough to know to be aware of such pop-ups, I would guess). Imagine getting charged more than what that computer is worth to fix a non existent problem which can be evaded by opening task manager and force closing the browser (and that's if you don't get the "prevent this page from creating any more dialogues" option presented to you!)

You can hear the disappointment in an Indian accented rep when you tell them you feel more comfortable speaking to someone else. Just speaking to an English 1st language person on the phone is a big help in clear communication understanding.

Its the nuanced ease of conversation that comes with a US based English 1st speaker that allows me quicker insight into their intentions and purpose. Sometimes a chat about another topic unrelated to the business at hand helps to validate who im speaking to. Especially if on going contact with a company is needed to clear something up. A person's accent, use of language, education, and socioeconomic upbringing is a window into their very existence. It is very difficult to hide these 4 traits in a conversation. So its a tool i use as an extra layer of protection to more quickly ascertain what entity im dealing with.

Jim infiltrates scammers computers, gets all of their info, reports them to the proper authorities, etc. Kitboga calls scam centers as a multitude of different characters to mess with scammers, waste hours of their time, and get the ultimate payoff of a scammer losing their shit when they realize they’re not getting any money after a 4+ hour call. Hey, I am from Rajasthan. I think you can tag Jaipur Police On Twitter regarding the whole issue. I don't know of many cases but once a foreign tourist tagged Jaipur police on Twitter about how he was bullied by a group of people while being in Jaipur. He posted the video too and Jaipur police caught all of them within i think 2 days or less and you have more info too. Hope this works. :)

@@aryanbaviskar4127 Is that why Modi government is opposing Gay marriage in court. LGBT was decriminalized only because of our courts meanwhile both Central and state governments have ignored them. Modi have not even acknowledged the existence of gay people in India inspite of landmark Supreme Court Judgment decriminalizing LGBT.
