Thanks Amy and Kyle for a good positive boost for cycling. I’ve never done an Audax or organised bike ride. My rides in France were cycling holidays 40 years ago, with no fixed route, length, or pre booked destination, just free wheeling. At 76 I am still keen to get the same bike out and rode up my local climb, Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham, Glos, to see the GB cycle race pass by…great, One question, how do you think of France and the French now and is your view different to how you thought before? Stay safe, but have fun. Gar

You like to bivvy? That made me think a bikepacking race (not everyone *really* races) would be a good next thing to do. Go give Trans Pyrenean or whatever a go. I know of slower riders that have done Transcontinental. How do people ride 600km without sleep? A bit like how you did in the 24hr. Keeping on top of your sleep before the ride makes all the difference, as it looks like Kyle might have a pretty good idea from experience. Good luck getting more women to come out and ride PBP. Randonneuring does not lend itself to the lifestyles of most women. It requires a lot of time spent riding a bike, and often times outdoors and alone. Women are generally afraid of riding alone for threat of being mugged or worse. And most women are not mechanically inclined. So they are afraid of a breakdown while far from home and not being able to get home thereafter. Another reason (and probably the main reason) women don't take to randonneuring is they generally are focused on having kids. And once the rug rats exist there definitely is no time available to waste on long bike rides. Many of the women who do randonneuring in the U.S. ride a tandem with their husbands, or they are gay. The ones riding tandem are older and the kids are gone. And the gay ones don't have kids. I'll be surprised if you two actually ride PBP in 4 years. Amy appears to me to be something like age 28 or 29. And I suspect Kyle is 1 to 3 years older. He might be her age. Most people get married to have kids. And rug rat number 1 should be on its way within the next 4 years. Thus there more than likely will not be time or energy to prepare for PBP. This 2023 PBP experience was wonderful. And I'm sure it will be one of both of your highlights in life. It will be difficult to come up with a more impressive cycling event to document on this You Tube channel. You might want to design some 1000k loops and ride those? I enjoy the 1000k rides a lot more than the 1200k ones. Three days is just as epic as 4 days, but a whole day shorter. Not everybody is good at designing long bike routes. And not all geographic areas lend themselves to good long bike routes. Gotta have a convenience store open 24/7 every 40 to 65 miles along the way.

You obviously don't know much about endurance sport or cycling... or women for that matter! Maybe have a look at the achievements of Jenny Graham, Jasmine Paris and Laura Kenny to name but a few amazing mothers. It's really sad that whatever narrow existence you live you think women only exist to produce children... that idea went out of date a loonnnggg time ago! Keep up 😉

And FYI lots of "gay" women have kids in 2023... and can fix bicycles...

It’s hard to know where to begin with this comment from Jeff. I think you have some unresolved mummy issues, so instead of your belittling comments, try and get the help that you so desperately need.

@stelatandem2702. I have no doubt you are correct. However, the women you are referring to are not randonneurs. I find your comment to which I am replying to be totally irrelevant and off point.
