@@ptbietz What he's saying is that other youtubers don't demonstrate other problems such as the various types of things sticking into the tube or how a tube can be improperly seated. They probably say "if your tube is not seated correctly, do this". This KZfaqr actually demonstrates with both verbally and video snippets. I hope this helps clarify.

Couldn't agree more with your comment Chantel. it was a delight watching it. No hand held 'I'm too stingy to buy a tripod' shaking camera, no heavy breathing behind the camera like the presenter is about to have a heart attack, no giggling behind the camera, no focus problems, no rambling, no dirty dingy garage, no some random cat walking in the shot and then the presenter goes off in a tangent about the cat and no "Editing??? what is this pagan magic you speak of???? Editing, never heard of it" A very good video, with subtle humour, like 'find out what caused the puncture" and there is a massive bolt thru the tyre

I was trying to fit a continental gp 5000 clincher without tire levers and spent three hours juggling with trying to fit it onto the rim without any success. I was about to take the rim the next day to a bike shop. I looked for various videos for guidance but yours was the one that worked. Great video. One additional point, before removing the tube from the tire, mark the tire where the valve is and the side of the valve towards you. This way when you inflate the tube and find the leak, you can hold the tube up to the tire in its original configuration and see where the leak was on the tire. Inspect the tire in that area. Then hold the tube up to the wheel, lining up the valve and the valve hole and inspect the wheel in the location of the leak. I never thought about if the rim tape didn't completely cover the spoke holes the tube could bulge into that area causing a weak point. Buying new rim tape today. Thanks.

genuinely really appreciate the time you took to go through the different punctures and how and why they happen. i watch a lot of baking/cooking videos and my pet peeve is when they say 'dont do x or y will happen' and there are 0 examples (in their video or uploaded by anyone else) of what they're telling you what to watch out for. going through all the scenarios of how a tire pops and overinflating the tire to show the exact type of pop you'll experience is incredibly informative

This is a great video. It is now all coming back to me. I repaired punctured bicycle tyres all the time when I was at school and uni but have not done that for about 30 years now. Just recently bought me an ebike and punctures may become part of my life again, haha. In those days I had to pull the freshly repaired tube out again several times because I didn’t know some of the things this video mentions. For example, I didn’t check the tyre for any embedded thorns or objects. Also, inflating the tube before reinstallation is important, to avoid the tube getting snagged and damaged. Thanks for uploading the video, it was a good refresher for me and I don’t think there is anything that could be added.

I was originally going to dismiess the whole inspection part ("my tube is flat, I'm upgrading it anyway...") but the parts about spokes and the rims had me glad I checked. Great video!

Thank you very much for the helpful guides. I've repaired my inner tube myself after seeing how easy you strip down the rear tyre. By the way, I found a tiny hole causing the air leak and covered it with super-glue, cured it and then a layer of very sticky tape. No more flat tyre.

I recently returned to the world of bicycles after a hiatus that had lasted since childhood. I think I might have finally found a channel with enough detail to make me semi-confident about doing some of these things. Nice video.

Important for me was to deflate the tube well when taking it off and inflating the tube partially before installing the tire. Otherwise it's quite difficult getting the tire off and on.

Great demonstration! Additional regulary check that vulcanizing liquid used for the stickers. I didn't get a tire flat for several years. Finally when it happened I had sufficient stickers to fix it but the liquid tube was dry out completely making me walking at home. Lesson learned on the hard way!

is it okay to use a air compressor at a low setting to inflate a bike tire
@parktool
@parktool 8 жыл бұрын
With the proper fitting, an air compressor is definitely acceptable. Park Tool makes a bicycle-specific attachment for air compressors: www.parktool.com/product/shop-inflator-inf-2 Otherwise, a standard Schrader valve attachment is adequate, as long as you are mindful not to overinflate. Check with a pressure gauge as you fill.

Thanks. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out the difference between a tire and a tube, even with reading multiple articles and spending a lot of time staring at my bike. It made no sense and it was so frustrating 😂. Then I figured a good visual aid would help. Took me half the video, and then it clicked. Ohhhh! That makes sense! It’s a good thing too. I realized today my tires (or tubes I guess) aren’t holding air and go flat in minutes. Not very surprised, I took my bike with me on a 6 month RV trip across the country with a cheap bike rack. But now I know I should only need to replace the tubes. Which is great cause I really like my tires. We’ll see how long they can last (if they are still lasting). 🤗
